Why westeners prefer "badass concept" for GG but love "cute bubbly" concept for BG?

For example, GOT7 famous MV is "Just Right".

BTS latest releases BWL is in this category, and BTS most viewed MV is "DNA".

Bighit latest group, TXT debuted with this kind of concept, which Bighit directly aim to US market.

No they like concepts that actually fit the people singing it, not forced concepts.
A badass concept can be forced and a cute concept can too.

I've never noticed a theme with boy groups in the west except they're supposed to be attractive.

No one in the West wants cute bubbly boy groups lol. That's an Asian thing i dont know why the women there want their men to be like this, you don't see BTS doing cute aegyo stuff in their Western interviews (or at least i hope not, for their sake, they will eventually be ridiculed into oblivion if they start doing the stuff i've seen boy groups do on variety shows, etc). Nowadays, masculinity isn't as rigid as it used to be in the US but you still can't act like a baby as a man, or even as a woman, and expect to be taken seriously.

Yeah, I agree with what someone said above. Westerners like authenticity above anything else. If being cool seems to come naturally to you, that's what we like. If being cute is what comes naturally to you, that's what we like. If it looks like you're putting on a cute act when your natural personality doesn't seem to be that way, it's cringy af. Same with if you try to put on a tough/cool act.

In regards to cute concepts: it's seen as novelty and something you will only see in asian media. Most people reacting to that stuff will find it weird but ultimately will be entertained however it's not something they will want to see on a regular.

Being cute doesn’t equate to acting like a baby. This is exactly the overtly one dimensional western mess I get annoyed by. Not everyone needs to be “badass” (and I definitely meant the quotation marks too)

But yeah, as long as they fit the concept, it’s all good

Kpop & it’s concepts are a form of entertainment, an escape from reality

It’s okay for someone to have their preferences, but shaming those for doing certain concepts just because of it is lame as fuck

Aegyo literally means to act like a baby
    I don't get the appeal

True, it is lame, but unfortunately, it is the reality of the world we live in. If BTS started doing "girly" or "cutesy" gestures, dance moves, skits, or whatever during their press junkets here in the West, they will eventually get mocked so bad that they will be turned into a laughingstock.

Now, i think they can get away with more in their official MVs like the one for BWL. I think Americans will understand or tolerate the "dyke" hair (i'm sorry to use this term but this is literally how half of Americans think about green, pink, blue, etc hair dyes), the pink/purple color schemes, and the general flower boy look in the high budget, high concept stuff like music videos. But BTS needs to be really careful about bringing that aesthetic into their on camera interviews and more importantly, bringing any associated non-masculine behaviors/gestures into them in front of an audience.

And to their credit, i watched several of their interviews and BH did a great job of making them appear like regular dudes, limiting the aegyo, dressing them up in regular clothes with regular hair, suits, the whole works. The only cringey parts happened because of the language barrier and that can't be helped.

DNA is not even close to cute
There are no made up words and the lyrics are mature
There was no viral cute hand gesture and they don't sing in 'cute' voices
    BWL isn't cute either
The only part I can think of that could be cute is the part during Jhopes verse
They sing normally, they arent trying to sound cute

And yes, girls do prefer darker concepts or sexy concepts for boy groups

That's why everyone praises Blood Sweat and Tears

    Make it make sense

If a boy group released 'banana allergy monkey' they would be bullied out of a career

Yep, that is exactly what aegyo means literally translated.

As an older dude, i cringe like crazy when i watch other men do it. I'm sorry to be old fashioned but i cant help it. I wish the Kpop boy groups would stop doing it but for some reason, the girls in Korea go crazy over it, even some Ifans do on TW.

I give a little more leeway for the ladies, call me sexist, but i'm trying to be real here, i have more tolerance when it comes to the women. But even then, it's only certain cases where i think it's cute. When the Sixteen girls were doing it, i was fine with it, they were literally girls, some were like 13, 14, 15 that's fine. When Sana or Tzuyu do it, it just seems a part of their personalities, Sana being the more flamboyant one, while Tzuyu doing it in her usual soft spoken manner. But it seems forced when Chaeyoung, Jihyo. or JY do it.

When you think about it, any group can really do any concept. The problem is that if a group has stuck to a particular concept for a long time, there are people who can't get used to them doing another concept so they just perceive it differently...can't get it out of their heads, thus not liking the song.

That is why you have to get someone who knows nothing or never listened to the group and watch an mv of this group doing a new concept to see if they like it.
