Why isn't Jimin the main vocalist of BTS?

I didn't think about this until I watched a few of their performances and noticed that Jimin is the one who's doing all of the higher notes despite being the lead vocalist and Jungkook being the main vocalist. By definition, the main vocalist is the one that has a wider range and it seems that Jimin has a wider range than Jungkook, so wouldn't it make more sense to make Jimin the main vocalist? Or is it because his voice fits BTS's songs more?

I know that this question is kind of irrelevant for BTS since they're more rap and dance rather than vocal, but it is just curiosity.

honestly Jimin isn't a great vocalist, Taehyung has the best voice but BigHit put Jungkook as main because of his smooth voice, prioritizing style over technique.

No one in BTS is a good singer, but I think Jimin would be in 3rd place in terms of technique? Taehyung would be 1st.

He's already the main dancer isn't he? I don't think you can be the main dancer and the main vocalist

Okay, a little vocal tutor class for y'all. Jimin is the lead vocalist of BTS, because he is already the main dancer. It's a rather rare occurrence that a member gets two official main positions. Besides, Jimin might have a wider vocal range, but Jungkook has and possesses a bigger ability to variate and switch from higher to lower notes, while Jimin's got naturally a pretty high pitch, but lacks on lower pitch. That plays a huge role in the position of the main vocalist. The main is usually the one in the group, that is and plays best on their field. And this doesn't usually and solely mean how great of a singer their are, but also on how good, felixble and adaptable she/he is. They are in charge of attracting to the vocal aspect and part in each their activities after all. So having and using the same vocal technique over and over again, won't keep anyone's interest for long. The main of each position has to have knowledge and talent in one area: adjustment.

They don't just listen to a soon-to-be idol's voice and decide "Ah he fine, he be the main", no.

Example is BLACKPINK's Rosé. She has a nice voice, but uses the same technique over and over and over again, in each and all their songs. Many netizens had mixed feelings and emotions about the fact, that Jennie wasn't the main vocalist at first, including me, seeing that she is able to alternate her vocals. Same to Sistar's Hyorin. Many thought Soyou should have been in charge.

You understand na? It's all about tactic and strategy.
Most of the time, that is.

If you find any typos, keep 'em.

+ Edit: J-Hope is the main dancer.

I always thought it was because:

    1. Jungkook was supposed to be in the rap/vocal mix line ---> Bighit changed their mind ---> turns out he can dance well and maintain both with stable efficiency --> MAIN VOCAL

    2. Jimin wasn't the strongest vocalist during debut but 2nd in dancing to Jhope --> given MAIN DANCER --> improved singing much more --> LEAD VOCAL

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I can see how Jin is a sub-vocal (even though he's improved tons, he never intended to be a singer)....how is V considered a sub-vocal. In my opinion, he's got a much stronger voice (and perhaps better technique?) than the others. How is he not the Lead Vocal?

    @golden_jenkook any thoughts?

I mean they're basically all on the same level, vocally so they all can be the main vocalist lol. They seldom do the high notes live so it doesn't really matter anyway.

Jimin definitely has a wider range and he sounds the best to me. I seriously want him to put out a solo R&B album lol. He's not overly whispery like Jungkook. As much as I like V he sounded like he was singing with something in his mouth the whole album and that he was making his voice really deep. But I did enjoy Jungkook's and Jimin's voices on "Her".

Besides the points above, I think Jungkook is just more of the "sound"
BH wanted with BTS. Somewhere between Jimin's light voice and V's husky
    baratone.
