Honestly, i'm getting frustrated with it..
It's not even just jpop really it's pretty much all Japanese music apart from classical. And it's not that some groups don't have good vocals or anything but it's usually all so unbalanced. Some songs the back ground music is too overpowering for the song, or the vocals are just shit quality (and i'm not saying the singers are bad i'm saying it sounds like it got recorded on a 10dollar headset).
I get a lot of music from animes and really love them no matter them being Rock/Dance/Pop/Metal , groups of soloist but whenever i decide to look for more all i seem to find is just not that good.
The only band so far I know in Japenese music that is not anime related and i like is Babymetal.
You guys have any other recommendations for me?
Other groups/People I have on my list are: Mikuni Shimokawa, OnelifeCrew, DaisyxDaisy, SuG, W-inds, shiho nanba, Idoling!!!
anything like any of them would do but it seems impossible to find something decent if you don't know your way around japanese music
Edit: Sorry for writing Japanese wrong in my title, in my native tongue Japanees is how you write it and my autocorrect takes over sometimes without me noticing D:

Have you ever tried One Ok Rock?

I know they are rock, but their sound is pretty balanced no matter what they've pursued. Same with FACT.

I tried One ok Rock, but they sing everything in english ? Don't get me wrong they're deffo not bad but i feel weird classifying them as Japanese music because the songs i've heard were almost all in english

I have gotten into Kalafina, KOKIA and Ali Project via anime music. They surely aren't your everyday pop, but have lot of good songs beyond just few songs heart in animes. Although to be fair- most of their songs have bee in some animes, Kalafina has even called their music animusic aka anime music ^^; If you are looking great vocals all three are somewhat known for their vocals.

    Kalafina

Vocal group that Yuki Kajiura made to sing her songs, have been around 10 years now. Known from their singing and harmonies.

This came out two weeks ago so I guess that's their newest song now, pretty good one.

However I like their lives lot more than their mv's:

    Something lighter:

    KOKIA

I think she went to Italy get training as opera singer, but returned into Japan to be folkish pop singer lol.

I have noticed that you rarely find mv's and even lives on her stuff, it's mostly just lyric videos on her songs or some kind of mv's. Doesn't make me not appreciate them any less though.

I found out her via this song "Light of Memory" that was ending of anime "Space Battleship Yamato 2199":

    Ali Project

Duo of singer Arika Takarano who writes the lyrics as well and violinist/composer whose name I don't remember at all, he's not in the pics either so ^^;. Their genre is neoclassical so it's not quite pop either, style pretty gothic. They have been around forever, since 80s. Mv's are quite horror themed and be hard to find, so lives although those can be bit hard to find as well (god dammit Japan).

And yep she always has crazy stage costumes and make-up.

    Huh I'm tired now ^^;

Japanese music is the best though, shouldn't be too hard finding some good stuff. I'll show you a variety of things I love :)

Hmm only the last song has a chance of ending up on my playlist
The first 1 the voice just doesn't do it for me, the second one neither the music nor the voice work for me
The third song, is this actually live ? The vocals and music are good but the balance is missing for me
The last song i like everything but it's a little slow, currently studying for my finals so something preppy to keep me going is nice LOL

(I wanna add this is my personal opinion, i'm not saying they are bad musicians, it just doesn't really work for me)

No problem at all. I think I get a better idea of what you like now, more cheery and lively songs, right? Hehehe I'll try again then.

These are more pop and happy, so I hope you find them more suitable :)

I find it pretty easy if you browse a ton of Youtube videos and listen to internet radio stations.

Maybe you can find some good podcasts to. Japanator Radio was my favorite until it ended.
