Leader and main vocalist.
I was devastated when she left the group
Did something happen then?
I've seen too many knetz comparing her departure with that of Crayon pop's Soyul
Wonder Girls went on hiatus in early 2013 because Sunye got married, soon after she got pregnant.
December 2013 Sunye, Lim, Yubin & Yenny renewed with JYP, Sohee left.
Sunye renewing made people think the group would make a comeback soon after, but nothing happened. Thus people blaming her for Wonder Girls doing nothing for over 2 years. Because it wasn't untill Wonder Girls made a comeback in 2015, Sunye actually departed from the group.
Oh Okay. Thank you for clarifying it.
Thanks for this...I totally forgot what she sounded like
No offense to onces, but watching this makes me feel like jyp used to put out girl groups that had much more substance than now.
They compared Soyul to Sunye when she's actually been very honest since she started dating till marriage.
She's the reason I ever became a KPop fan. What a voice...
Mainly for Taeyeon but I love Sunye in this too
The Wonder Girls were formed around Sunye. She was the leader, THE face and the (publically at least) the force behind the WGs.
And yes, she did drag the group down for 2 years while she made up her mind if she was staying or not.
In all honesty, as long as Sunye or Yenny were in the group, it was still the Wonder Girls. And Sunye... that woman can SANG!
Yes T_T I remember her! omg
hm idk if i agree with that, i mean, sohee was pretty iconic and well known in south korea
and i rather think that JYP is more to blame for their long hiatus (shipping them off to america, which i'll never forgive jyp for)
but yea i agree, thank goodness yeeun didnt leave or else it wouldnt have been the wonder girls
Duh!!! She is my ultimate bias of all time!!! Literally my first bias and still the best vocalist I've ever known in kpop. She was so underrated for all of her talents (she is one of the only main vocals who was a lead dancer) and she was a great leader. I miss her dearly and when she left I literally cried.
Sunye never dragged the group down. If anything JYPE (Not JYP himself) lost interest in WG and didn't promote them as the sub-units, actors, etc. that they should have. Sunye was always open to the public about her dating, her marriage, and even when she got pregnant, meanwhile everyone in WG was talented and well known and could have easily made an impact so the public wouldn't forget about them. She also felt a heavy burden to stay BECAUSE she was the leader and WG was as you said, her group.
-__- EVERYONE used to put out girl groups "with more substance" so let's not make this a jyp or Twice thing. There are very few rookies, or even idols that debuted after 2010 that have the same impact, variety, and substance that the older artists had. It's a different time hence different talents and different people.
She was glowing and she still is.
It's always hard when the main vocalist leaves. I've seen it with other groups and usually the vocal quality dips after their departure (Kara and Topp Dogg come to mind. Still very good, but no one could quite take the place of vocal powerhouses Sunghee, Gohn and Seogoong.) But Wonder Girls recovered very well. Unfortunately it didn't matter much considering all the irreversible damage JYP had inflicted; American debut, long hiatus, and an almost continuous string of mediocre songs. It's so wrong that Sunye was the one people blamed, when she had nothing to do with their hiatus. Obviously the girls still love Sunye.
Personally it was Sohee's departure that saddened me most. No she wasn't that talented, but she was the face of the group and gave it a unique charm no other member could.
lmao it was JYP fault not Sunye
From a business perspective, I agree. The WGs were so mismanaged in the U.S. that is was digusting.
From a personal perspective... if they'd never come, I would have never found KPop... and BoA.
