What do you think Twice's popularity would be like if they never had Cheer Up or TT. Those were the two songs that shot Twice up to the top in both Korea and Japan.

no, they have star power and the charisma to be a top group, but without cheer up and tt, they’d have a much smaller hype in japan and korea.

i think you’re underestimating how much tt and cu impacted the market

They would still be popular, if not in top 3, then at least Gfriend/Mamamoo popularity.

Like Ooh-ahh did pretty well in the end, and the incident brought them attention... so idk if their songs were the only factors that made them #1

I'd say they would have made it to the top3 or at least top 5

Like oh ah happened and that was smash 2.5M is no joke, their album sales would be impressive anyway, so they would still be top 3

I think they'd still be pretty popular.

jyp girl groups always do well so maybe it would have taken longer but i think they would have success either way

They would still be one of the top if not still the top group. Given the hype following 16 and JYP's team, they would still be a big hit. I mean, likey was big as well, and they were doing well before cheer up.

considering how well their debut did, and expecting they would do similar and jyp pushes their comebacks in the same way, they just wouldnt be a wall, they would still be no.1 if you ask me, may be rv would have grabbed the no.1 title for short time after red flavor, playing with fire might have become national hit, but i dont think not performing well enough is the reason bp is kept in hiatus, so they would still be in same position, mmm might have become no.1 in korea, but ifans cant perceive that anyway and gfriend didnt really have a hit in 2017.

    i think you mistyped sixteen.

after that show, they would be a top group even with bad songs. the catchy good songs sure as hell made em even bigger, though.

They still would be a wall and Likey probably would have been a National hit that took them to the same level Cheer Up and TT did. But maybe SIgnal wouldn’t have won song of the year tho I could see that.

It would've let Gfriend become monsters so I'd say number 3 instead of 1

    1 being Gfriend
    2 perhaps RV or EXID
    3 Twice
    4 perhaps RV or EXID
    5 Mamamoo

Not counting BP if we're talking Cheer Up / TT era

They definitely wouldn't be the wall they are today. If they didn't release those bops, they'd still be top 3 but like after blackpink and Red Velvet. They'd be lower tier big 3. I would think they'd have the same popularity as Got7. So not very popular, but not the lower tier. Just around the middle popularity, or the lower rank of the big 3. Without the wall of twice, we give way to other groups popularity. Gfriend would have surpassed them too. But I think eventually they would rise, just because their music is suited to a Korean audience, but maybe without cheer up or TT they would be open to taking more risks. Concept wise. TT and Cheer up showed them what sound matches them to become popular, so they stick to that sound. Because it's safe. Without a big hit, they'd probs be throwing concepts to the wall and seeing what sticks. I can see them continuing with LOA concept, due to the initial praise during debut.

sixteen was never big. people always think twice got privileged from that show, they're not
loa only got its attention after cheer up
for a big 3 group, they only sold 8k for loa's first week, which is bad
cheer up shot twice up and the girls' charm made them stay on top

I'm buddy, but GFRIEND wouldn't be able to keep a top position... The break between LOL and The Awakening hurts their brand so bad, and they lost momentum, that was a big misstake from soumu
