I mean this statistically, not like giving examples of a group you dont like.

I mean does flop really count on the charting or on the sales or what? I have no idea what exactly a flop is, because people called some really popular songs and groups a flop because they didnt sell as many as their last song(s).

for example, some people called EXID Lie a flop but it charted pretty well and sold over 500,000 copies. So how in the world is that a flop?

So seriously in general terms, what is a flop even supposed to mean?

Also was RaNia's Demonstrate a flop? I feel like it probably was since the album pretty much sucked except for Demonstrate and Hello. Plus the whole concept of adding Alex was messy and not well thought through at that time. But it would be a shame if it was considering Demonstrate was such a great song.

And what about High4:20? I cant find their sales, but I saw that they were able to make the top 10 on Gaon Chart which I guess is pretty good considering AKP describes it as the Korean equivalent of Billboard.

It depends from group to group for me, and varies according to each group's strengths and weaknesses. For example: if twice's next song was to sell 500k then for them, it would be a flop. If VIXX's next song sold 500k, it would be good for them.

There is no reason for any group to be called a flop. Some people will call a group who don't chart well a flop but then will go ahead and call a group who is doing well a flop. It's basically an insult in the kpop community to taunt a groups success or lack there off.

I think its supposed to be when a song fails terribly, but most people use it to insult groups they don't like.

I think it's more about the impact the song has on the industry and the general public. Quality is important. I wouldn't call a song successful just because the fandom splurged a ton of money to support their idols because I know that some fans are prone to buy whatever their idols release.

It really depends on how you look at it. It could mean the group/idol isn't doing well in comparison to others in the industry. Or also if the didn't do as well as anticipated/ how well they usually do.

I think if a song is universally disliked by the fandom and does not chart well or sell well, than it may be a "flop". But i dislike the idea of "flopping" because artists are allowed to not have good releases every once in a while. Not every single is going to be amazing, and not everyone will like the songs that are released.

being honest. Flop should be a song that doesnt chart and goes unotticed, but in Kpop world generally means:
-didint break some kind of YT record
    -didnt won all the trophies
    -(don't like the group)
-there is someone more popular than them

    Flop would mean:
-Didn't sell per expectation (think of a large difference)
    -Didn't create any hype
    -No music show wins
-Bad at digital and physical sales
    -No Youtube views

Sometimes 'flop' is a relative term. Like when Exo CBX were promoting alongside Twice people CBX a flop because they won nothing (except once). Twice had all the Kpop world records and views. But they both ended up selling same number of physical copies but the digital sales vary hugely. So it depends on who and what you are comparing to.
