So I was looking through bands like ft island and cnblue. They used to be popular, get invited to music shows, variety shows, etc...fnc did a really good job with them. Their songs were really good too. I love cnblue songs but not a fan.
What happened to their successor bands like honeyst and n.flying? Why aren't they having the same success as their seniors? Is fnc not promoting them? Are their songs bad? Aren't people paying attention to bands anymore?
    What's your conclusion?
If you do listen to korean bands too, then what band is your favourite?

well if you look at their legends/best sellers it's all soloist and bg
i guess bands just never been a culture in sk so it's hard to be as big as bg or gg unless you're an exception (like that indie band hyukoh)

Have any bands since Paramore found mainstream success? The old ones are still going strong but I haven't seen any new ones

You can see how much Korea hates rock just by looking at CNBLUE's discography on wikipedia. 2 studio albums in Korea, one in 2011 when they debuted and the 2nd in 2015. Then you look at their Japanese releases. 8 studio albums in Japan. EIGHT. 1 for each year, starting before they debuted officially. It's really hard for bands in Korea to make it big because for one, promotion is largely done through music shows but none of these shows allow the bands to play live. It's awkward for them and very disheartening. Only if they host their own live sessions or go on a show like Sketchbook can they really show who they are. I think Koreans would like them more if they could play live each week.

It makes me really sad, as someone who loves rock and korean music. I think the korean language is really beautiful when sung and it's such a shame there isn't more of it at the same level as kpop.

But if you reading this and you are like me, listen to Day6:

I had heard their name and kind of knew they were a band but I didn't check them out until last weekend and this is exactly what I want more of. They're amazing. I should have listened to them sooner.

I think the mainstream k-pop isn't really supportive of bands, also maybe current bands just havnet released break-through songs that fit general public like (sadly, some songs are amazing that deserve muchhh more recognition). If I'm not wrong, both CnBlue and F.T Islands had hits that made them well-known first. Some indie bands are still popular outside of kpop.

I love The Rose most, followed by Day6 and N.Flying.

I wish FNC would let Honeyst liven things up just a little. They're really good, but honestly, their music is really, really bland and forgettable. They sound like a lot of other low-key indie groups. I'm not saying they have to become Bursters, but they at least need a fun song with a good hook that will catch the public's attention.

Mainstream rock is dead, but there are plenty of bands still putting out amazing music. You just have to want to find it.
