Article: KMCA “‘BTS Military Service Act’ is discriminatory, need to be reconsidered”

    1. Isn’t that obvious? In the future, regardless of who they are, they may be exempt from military service if they achieve achievements like BTS

    2. The BTS members will enlist as usual, so please do not use BTS as a shield

    3. But if you lower the standards, it goes crazy. It was adopted because standards were high from the start

    4. I feel like other agencies used BTS to change the law, they tried to benefit from BTS but all failed

    5. If you want them to lower the standards to match other idols, then why is only BTS always appearing in articles about the postponement of military service?

    6. Do you think BTS would be so popular in the past? Maybe there will be a second BTS or someone else

    7. This law is not exclusive to BTS, but standards are raised so that only famous artists who have achieved such achievements as BTS can benefit from it…

    8. 15 years or more is a requirement, but other idols are also likely to receive cultural medals if they have achievements like BTS

    9. I’m not a fan of BTS, but I feel like they’re just using BTS to help other idols benefit

    10. If you want to get benefits, you should achieve achievements like BTS

    The fourth comment..

This comment right here nailed it. For years korean agencies used BTS name to argue for exemption but now are just realizing they set the bar too high cuz no one from thise agencies has achieved similar things to BTS

I wouldnt even mind if the companies and idols benefiting would be respectful and thankful to BTS for this.

Like I dont mind JYP artists or Seventeen getting the exemptions.

    BTS Military Service Act? Wtf?!

As always, other labels are hiding behind BTS, letting them feel the heat. Be it dipping toes and breaking the glass ceilings of the western music market or this military thingy.

I’m tired. Can’t imagine how the boys feel.

Can I just call out point #7 (and wow, the 7 agenda is strong)? How does everyone not understand that it's meant to be applicable only to exemplary groups/people? That it's not discriminatory to BTS, it just so happens that right now, only BTS have achieved enough to fall into that category. But if other groups do achieve it, they will be offered this option too. That's it.

Some people are mad they cant apply this law currently to all the idols they are churning out.

They cant make a "BTS law" and then apply it to everyone. If they want a law to apply to all idols, they should have the public debate about the postponement of enlistment for all idols, not hide behind BTS. If they dont get enough public support for the non-BTS law, then thats their problem.

Just to be clear how soloist situations stand here?
    For example Baekhyun?
or trot singers which sell like 500-600k in first week?

I read the whole article and it amused me..
So basically the whole SK government is aware that it is more likely that there will never be another BTS in the future.

Knetz making some good points for once. So you want to use BTS to get a law passed but when the law is based off of BTS achievements its suddenly unfair?

Bts gets dragged into this stupid conversation from both kmedia and western media side while they're the ones keeping quiet about it the most :sketchyk:

im sure a lot of kpop groups will find big success in the future but bts's level is extremely unlikely

The industry is butthurt, especially the big 3. Since 2018 they tried their level best to use BTS' name and accomplishments to get a law made for themselves, with no regards to the fact that BTS/BH were never in those meetings.

The public dragged BTS for years but now that BTS has become larger than life and govt is considering treating them as a special case, the big 3 are feeling cheated out.

Imagine starting the dialogue and making someone else the scapegoat and in the end you are flicked out like an unwanted fly from milk, must have burnt them.

    lmao.

    Reminder that :

    1. When aaaallll big labels in SK gathered to discuss how better to obtain exemptions for their own idols, BigHit was NOT part of that meeting
    2. BTS and BigHit never expressed ANY intention of applying for an exemption. If it's granted to them, great! but they never asked or wished for it.
    3. this all started because it was thought unfair how other musicians i. e classical acts, can benefit from an exemption, but pop singers not. If the bar is high for classical acts, for sports people (Olympic medalists, wow), then it should be just as high for pop singers as well. It's meant as an exception to a rule.

If only athletes who are exceptional and wins a gold medal in the olympic games can get benefits then why should it be different in the music industry?
