ultimately it comes down to the song, but I do feel that scheduling your comeback appropriately is a very important thing that can make/break it.

For example - I think RBB may have done slightly better had it been in October.

I liked them, but not enough to get invested in so much content.
It was competent but not special.
that is the negative part of the way they did the project to me.
I refused to trickle start one girl at a time.
so by the time the group itself actually showed up
    A. i was done with the stans.
B It had to be a monster hit to me to get me to commit to 2 years of back content.

Instead of lowering the barrier to knowing the group the debut method raised it.

    1. They can’t predict which is the best time to comeback. It’s nearly impossible. Even more now when popular groups are making more and more comebacks every now and then.

    2. Promoting with other popular artists is not an excuse to not grab the public’s attention. Mamamoo was nearly nugu when UOAY became super popular. They were also promoting along with Sistar, AOA, BIG BANG and even Exo. Don’t blame just the company, a group as a whole also have to show some type of effort to appeal to the audience (aka Gfriend, Jooe from Momoland, etc). The’ve had plenty of opportunities to show their abilities, so to blame starship for their lack of success with the mainstream audience is a big reach.

Honestly en I still think they are good. If it wasn’t apink or Gfriend then it would have been someone else. I just want the music so the more the merrier

If losing the Public attention to another group is the Fear

Than it could be allot worse than GFriend and APink

    like Big 3 worse

(I love WJSN, APInk and GFriend btw, just stating an unfortunate reality)

Yeah that’s understandable, for me the predebut was pointlessly extended (max 6 months with a new girl every two weeks). Then the song itself had to kill however it was just ok.

This made me actually question the competence of the people running the show, I think people with a good vision but not blessed with amazing producers or an ear for a great song are in charge, and have been (at least initially) given a blank cheque to do what they want.

I’m still really interested as they’ve tried something different and the idols are great, so fingers crossed we can see something better in the future
