To combat the effectiveness of trolls and bots, a new requirement has been established.

To be able to post a new thread, users must have made 15 comments on pre-existing threads. This is an increase from the previous requirement of 5 posts, due to an increase in activity of spam bots.

EDIT: After making 15 posts, it will take up to several hours for the privilege to be added to your account (usually within 15 minutes)

    Picked 20. I think it's a fair number.

The spambots can post inside threads too so it's better to be safe than sorry.
New users can also gain to learn from reading other threads/the rules etc in the time it takes to build their post count rather than jumping the gun on topic making.

I picked +30. This is a very active forum and if a legit new member wants to start a new thread right away, there's a great chance that it's something that has been posted before (or if it's news, that will be posted quite soon by regular members) so really, it wouldn't hurt for them to learn to use the search feature in the meantime.

Haha just to clarify, it's a one time requirement. Like, you don't have to post 10 new posts every time you make a thread. Once you hit that requirement, you're set.

At 850 posts, you won't even notice the new requirement no matter what the value is :p

I figure whatever the FORUMS MODERATORS might like it; would seem what is best. I think that the FORUMS MODERATORS bring *better* understanding of the 'issues involved' than just 'average' AKP users (me). That type of logic is what 'supports' *elected* REPRESENTATIVE Government. Hopefully, the REPRESENTATIVES are *smarter* than most of us. NOT always, of course, but that IS the general idea.

I'm a bit confused about the details regarding thread-making privileges.

Firstly, do you mean I need to post 5 additional responses (since this implementation of this requirement) before I am able to make a new thread?
Secondly, does this affect any of my previously made threads?
Thirdly, what about users like me whose first action upon logging in was putting up my artist thread? (You can see based on the thread number, 7, that I was in a rush to do this so I could actually get thread views since my bias group isn't very popular)
(My fourth question was the same as @Kuhma so it's answered already)

A spammer can make 10 comments in 5 minutes, doesn't take much effort.... I vote make it 50 comments or something :/ that way it will take too long for most people to bother (I hope...lol)

since it would be to make new threads I can't see it impacting old threads
and the last point is true, but would apply to everyone in the future so that would make it fair across the board

I voted for 20 as a fair deal but I think I should've voted for 30. Even if I'm new here and still catching up, I think it would be best to avoid spamming or what not "bots".

No, members who have more than the threshold amount before the implementation won't even feel the shift. This applies to new members mostly.
It will not affect previously made threads.
If you don't get to make an artist thread, and someone else gets to it before you and they become inactive, or top updating the OP, we can change the thread starter.
