Detective Pickachu at the weekend, didn't finish, boring and the whole pokemon thing just doesn't appeal to me. Ryan Reynolds as Pickachu was muted and dull, just a total miss on all levels.

    The Guilty 9/10
Normally I don't like films with subtitles, but, this was really good. Tense and gripping. And it leaves you with a lot to think about after it ends.

    Stand by me (1986)
Quite enjoyed it, quite funny and so touching in parts. Decent performances from the young cast for the most part.

Should've stopped at the first one. There's horror ridiculousness that's fun when you shut your brain off and then there's just plain ridiculous. This movie's the latter. All of the characters were forgettable and it went off the deep end with trying to be more than a haunted house film with the whole heaven and hell thing. First one was quite good, second one was middling, this should've redeemed it and tie everything neatly but I guess the director/writer can't capture lightning in a bottle twice.

    In the tall grass 6/10
Based on a Steven King short story, this is actually a pretty decent little horror film. Worth a watch.

In the tall grass 2019 based on Stephen king novel. I watched it on Netflix and it was pretty good. The ending was sad tho. I’ll give it a 8/10 because in the movie it was kind of confusing and they didn’t really explain the all those creepy action scenes well. The plot was twisting and good tho.

Hobbs & Shaw 7/10. Pretty much exactly what you expect, so if not a fan of the brainless F&F type films, then one to avoid. But if you are, then this spin off is enjoyable and I will happily watch more in the future. I enjoyed the banter between the leads (though there were a couple times it was a bit overlong) though I think my favorite banter was between Ryan Reynolds and Dwayne.

I thought the movie was great it was sad too because it felt so real, in some scenes I really felt bad for Arthur but to an extent. It's a pretty heavy movie in general honestly

I saw this months ago and have pretty much forgotten most of it but you know what? I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed much of it. Wasn't planning on seeing it but saw it with my mom anyway on senior day (free movie tickets for seniors). I think if you set your expectations right it's a perfectly disposable movie where you can just shut your brain off and watch the outrageousness of it all.

I guess this was their attempt at IT (the title's namesake looks eerily like the woman in the painting) and Stranger Things and kinda failed at both. The kids were decent as far as I can tell. Like most tepid horror films, it falls into the trap of someone being the exposition person with conveniently having the answers to the mystery.

I like the conceit but like any other film that deals with time travel, it's clunky if you look at it too close (the answer's always diverging timelines for it to work). It's a bit too on the nose - I guess this is the filmmaker's way of presenting the idea of killing Hitler to stop WWII (not as 'horrible' as what Deadpool 2's stinger implies).

Korean dark comedy, drama with a bit of horror. One of the better films I've seen recently.

Among the recent original Netflix horror/thriller released (Rattlesnake, Fracture, In the Tall Grass), I think I like this the most. I like that it's a slow burn and obviously influenced by Lovecraft. A few shortcoming of the film is we don't learn much about the characters - just enough to move the story and there's one character that you just see in the first act that proves to be vital to the whole thing. Wish they were fleshed (pun intended) out more. The movie would have benefited to an additional 15 - 20 minutes of world building and backstory I think. Without spoiling anything, I think the ending wouldn't satisfy a lot of people as it was kind of abrupt.
