    The Secret Life of Pets 2 (2019) - 5/10

The animation is good and the animals (and kids) have the cute factor, but there isn’t much else about it. The stories are ok, but go far too over the top as they progress, and it feels as though it’s trying too hard to be cool and funny.
There are some mildly amusing moments, but mostly, it’s nothing special.

Pretty awesome movie sure, not the best but still pretty awesome I will say though Naomi Scott can sing and Mena Massoud singing almost sounds like the cartoon Aladdin:omgr:

The description of the movie attracted me but when I watched it, I felt like I just wasted my time. :/ I found the main character to be unbearable and hard to like

    The Perfection (2019)
    4 - 5/10

I'm still sorting out my feelings for this movie. I like the ending and the very last scene was pretty gnarly however it's the getting there that's keeping my score down. Without giving away the story, I kept thinking there's a better way than how the women went about with their plan. The acting's serviceable - no one's stuck out as bad nor anybody was memorable, it's fine for a small/mid-tier budget film I guess. As I'm not a big fan of body horror or gore porn, I think the film has enough (i.e. very little) to not turn me away.
This movie reminds me of Pet, maybe because it's thematically kinda similar however I think that one's a tad bit better.

    John Wick 3 Parabellum 8/10

Picked up where the 2nd movie left off. The John Wick series set the bar high for the new format of action movies. Fast paced, amazing staging and cinematography, understated acting by some really good actors. I liked it almost as much as #2, but not as much as #1. It's not just about the puppy.

I was disappointed that there wasn't more direct retribution toward the 'high table' or revealing the members. Maybe next time. There just wasn't much in the way of resolution in this version.

I thought the sponsorship and fortnite dancing was cringey but King Back was actually funny at some points

The part at the end was incorrect,,, he wouldve needed months to recover and not die

It was visceral however and I think it's safe to say that's what they are aiming for rather than medical accuracy.

It reminded me more of Funny Games but not as well made
Especially with the rewind scenes. I did like the ending scene though with the women and their arms and what they did to the guy.

    X-Men: Dark Phoenix
    3/10
Messy. I don't want to spoil anything but instead of being Fox's triumphant swan song to the X-Men franchise, the movie feels tired and brow-beaten. I was hoping this would at least be serviceable compared to their last effort of retelling the Phoenix Saga more than a decade ago. Some of the dialogue were even nonsensical
Mystique criticizing Xavier for not risking anything - dude lost the use of his legs in First Class. Apocalypse tried to take over his body, his home was destroyed, he could've lived a safe and pampered life but risked everything when he decided to take other mutants in - what?
and the drama seem out of place and forced. In some respect, this is worse. Maybe it's just me but I'm not sure Sophie Turner is a good actress. She seems quite wooden here. To be fair, almost everyone appear to be just acting their lines out of contractual obligation. If it's any consolation, Disney has to really put an effort to make their X-Men this level of bad.
EDIT: Giving it a 4 is generous.

    Sorry Pixar fans..

    Wall-E 4/10 (2008)

You gotta admit, the animation was amazing for it's time, it's a shame they didn't use it on something better..

Wall-E is a story of a lone robot on Earth, he eventually develops human feelings after being alone, stranded on Earth. He then meets EVE, a sleek, better, robot who also landed on Earth. The two travel through space to save the "modern" humans on a different planet.

    No spoilers by the way..

The two parts of the movie both had different problems. The first half of the movie was way too rushed. EVE landed on Earth the exact same day Wall-E was introduced! Everything in the first half of the movie could have been much better if Pixar took their time.

The second part of the movie was the exact opposite. The movie was way too slow. There is literally only one objective, to get a plant to this lazy pilot. That's all there is to the second half. The movie repeats and repeats the same point in plot over and over again, nothing new or special.

I can see how people would like this movie, but I would skip this one if I were you.

    Um a 10/10
I love movies that communicate directly to my instincts and I loved every minute of it....I was hoping it would go on longer though, it's too short.

The premise is a group of dancers at a performance after party but their drinks are spiked with lsd and everyone goes crazy, some people (and a kid) die, it's brutal.

    Museum (Japan - 2016) and The Witness (Mok-gyeok-ja) (South Korea - 2018)
4/10 for Museum and 6/10 for The Witness
Something that I find increasingly irking in cop thrillers are the manufactured suspense to pad the minutes and push the story to a certain outcome without any regards to sense while getting there. Most of Museum's running time, I was shouting at the movie to call for a frickin' back-up. There's a car chase scene early in the movie where the detective should've called out for other police in the area to give chase as well but no, he took his sweet time and by then it was too late. The whole third act could've been resolved by alerting the other cops where the cartoonishly bad serial killer's home is, instead the film opted to grace it's viewers with misplaced melodrama and over-the-top acting.
The Witness fares somewhat better and I did get what the movie is trying to convey in the end but for most of the running time, the main protagonist is an insufferable coward. I guess props to actor Sung-min Lee for eliciting that reaction from me. The third act is where the manufactured suspense props it's ugly head when the cops had the bad guy cornered but, without revealing too much, was able to get away in the most contrived way. And the ending was like WTF but not in a positive way. Suspension of disbelief be damned I guess.

    Just saw Annabelle Comes Home

My friend who is a fan of the conjuring series and has seen the first two Annabelles said that it was better than the first one but not as good as the second one. In this franchise I've only seen the first conjuring and nothing else.
It wasn't a bad movie but it definitely didn't make me interested in checking out the first two. The good thing about it was that there wasn't a boring moment. However, the entire movie was basically jump scares or cue-ups to jump scares and the ending was anticlimactic. Honestly this movie is PG-13 at most.

Horrible Bosses - not as funny or clever as it thinks it is but not an all bad take on the old Strangers on a Train premise. 3/5

Very good, I loved it. It is really well made (as expected from Marvel I guess but still!), some scenes really fascinated me, it's just very well made. Story is good, Peter Parker is very likable and I like the humor in the movie.
