    OMG I'm almost in tears...
I feel like they're suceeding so hard
I never imagined so much would happen like this
Like I still remember when they thought they needed to just disband because they were working so hard with no results
GOSH I'm literally about to cry

Gonna have to question the validity of this site when they gave Cardi B a 8.7 but J.Cole a 6.3?

I had the same thought until I saw Kendrick with 9 n post malone with 6. Something...

In the review it seems that they ve listened to all previous BTS albums esp. Wings...

    Some other reviews

Rolling stone gave them a 3.5/5.

    https://www.rollingstone.com/music/albumreviews/review-btss-love-yourself-tear-w520489

The harshest critic was by the guardian seems really misinformed about BTS and looks like he did little research about why people are drawn to them. But he still gave a 3/5.

    https://www.theguardian.com/music/2018/may/18/bts-love-yourself-tear-review-k-pop

Guessing their just judging the music but i wonder if they actual read the lyrics with the music would have any effect seems hard to portray a message to reviewers who don;t speak your native tongue.

It seems like they did their research and knew what they talked about. I appreciate that.

I've... been trying to construct a solid comment for this thread but my mind has trouble grasping how surreal this situation is.
Pitchfork just reviewed LY:Tear. What timeline is this?!

Guardian was plainly racist, xenophobist and ignorant. But still had to give the album a 3, it's an excellent piece of work.

Translations exist and being a professional while reviewing foreign music, I an pretty sure all the reviewers except guardian read them.

Can you please explain why a review from Pitchfork is considered surreal?.. I want to understand it better apart from the fact that they are very harsh and that they can be narrow-minded when it comes to their reviews.. I'm confused because it seems like they did their research for LY:Tear.

They are one among the harsh critics...Also respected one...( Eventhough I dont like them becoz they lick kanye wests ass).
Even some Grammy winning albums get low score by their critics..

personal opinions can clash with their reviews, but it doesn't change that they are regarded as critics in the industry.

Pitchfork is critically regarded. the big deal in them reviewing BTS' album isn't only in them scoring it 7+ despite how harsh they are, but the fact alone that they reviewed it in the first place. that speaks for itself how critically considered Pitchfork is. i already saw many people who follow western music scene more closely feeling overjoyed by just the fact that Pitchfork is reviewing BTS. that speaks for Pitchfork's place in western critical spaces.

the guardian review has already been dragged for being shallow, racist and xenophobic (and no, i'm not talking about fandom dragging). here's the article for anyone interested, it's very satisfying to read:

It's surreal to me because its the first time Pitchfork reviewed a BTS album. I didn't think that a BTS album would be in their radar. They are regarded within the music industry especially in the indie and rap/hip-hop community. So hopefully their review can help listeners who aren't familiar with BTS to be more openminded and to overcome their pre-conceived notions and prejudices regarding the album.
