Also YG's Bigbang is responsible for 65% of the revenue."

1.[+109, 0] SM is nothing without TVXQ ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

2.[+101, 0] SM's cashcow is TVXQ... TVXQ's Japanese fans are so loyal and great. Korean fans change their favourite group right away when they find another group. TVXQ have been active in Japan for long years, still make a lot of money

    3.[+94, 0] ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋヽ(´▽`)ノ

4.[+70, 0] "TVXQ bring in the most income in SM, one tour roughly brings in $100 million USD"

    5. [+29, 0] TVXQ earns more than Japanese singers ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

    6. [+28, 0] I really wonder how much SM offered TVXQ to renew the contract ㅠㅠ

    7. [+27, 0] It's really great that Yunho and Changmin are very humble. They continue their business with no greed and show off.

    8. [+23, 0] TVXQ is milking Japan ㅎㅎ

    9. [+21, 0] TVXQ is so cool!

    10. [+19, 0] SM wouldn't be one of Big3 without TVXQ. SM, treat TVXQ well.

Aren't they the highest earning Kpop act of all time or something?

And they're kings. They deserve it.

As long as SM have TVXQ they can pretty much do anything with anyone else and not have to worry.

TVXQ are true kings of kpop
Yet they are humble and down to earth.
New gen artists should learn from them.

Also SHINee being breadwinners when their hyungs are away :omgr::siptear:

TVXQ is the biggest Kpop success story of all time. Especially when you consider what they've been through. A group of five became only two, yet they continued to thrive. Yunho and Changmin are very special and incredibly hardworking idols. And credit to SM as well.

Damn so they tour a lot. I still don't get how they earn so much from it. If every as big group as TVXQ or bigger groups would do exactly the same things as TVXQ, they would earn as much as them right? Then why there is no other big group that earns that much? Wtf companies. Also when there are only two members they must also earn a lot. How come HoMin aren't on top 10 richest idols? I don't get it. Someone wise please explain. xd

Lol I didn't understand anything but that there is huge amount of money in music industry. Holy shit.

Actually they don't tour a lot. Due to military service, split etc, they weren't active for around 3-4 years. There are even 3rd generation groups did tour more than TVXQ.
We generally look up to Wikipedia for the numbers of concert goers but wiki writes only the number of capacity. I think TVXQ is the only group whose tickets are completely sold.
The other reason is, probably, their ticket prices are higher than the others.
And the biggest reason is, concert revenue is ticket+merchandise revenue and TVXQ's merchandises are sold a lot. For example they made $52M during their Nissan tour for 3 days. Their ticket revenue was $25.5M while merchandise revenue $26.5M. Generally other groups' merchandise revenue are not even %10 of the ticket revenue. Other groups make max $4M in Tokyo Dome per day.
Japanese fans are crazy, they buy EVERYTHING lol. Koreans, or the other Asians don't buy as much as Japanese fans.

The other reason is physical sales. Physical sales are not a big deal compared to tours but still effective. Albums, singles, DVDs, BluRays are very expensive in Japan. As far as I know albums cost around $40, singles $15, DVDs $75, BluRays $90... TVXQ is the only group whose sales are balanced. I mean, they don't sell album and singles as much as BTS and TWICE (because TVXQ don't organize handshake events) but they DVDs and BluRays. For example BTS sold around 400k album, also sold 35K DVD in the same year. TVXQ sold around 500k album, also sold around 300K DVD in the same year. They even broke annual physical sales revenue record for a Korean act in 2010 with $87M. Previous record already belonged to them but this one was too much lol. By the way, don't take my example wrong. I had no other example since BTS is currently the best album/single selling group.

People underestimate Shinee but they are doing so well. At this rate, TVXQ is the richest Kpop boy group ever. Why doesn't Forbes Asia acknowledge them already?

They do tour quite a bit. But it's not the number of concerts that's the key, it's the size and location of the concerts. They only tour in Japan these days. BIG venues, 50k+ attendees per concert. Japanese concert tickets are expensive and their merchandise sells crazy numbers too.

When it comes to the Japanese market, atm no Kpop group is as big as TVXQ.

I think Forbes only search about the groups/singers they hear about. TVXQ never promoted in the USA, they barely promote in Korea and kinda stuck in Japan lol.
