I feel like this is just gonna be a vent thread that will get locked lol. But i'll give it a shot: Kpop is literally the most demanding genre of pop music out there. Not only do you have to work like a pack mule to practice and perfect the choreo and sync it perfectly with up to 481048 other members, but you also have to deal with constant SM and PR stuff. Vlives, YT vids, variety shows. Fans watching your every expression to drum up drama online. You have to be 100% at all times, physically and mentally, cant ever have a bad day lest you get cancelled by antis. The insane schedules, the music shows where you have to get up at 2AM and stay the entire day at the studio practicing and waiting. Doing this for weeks at a time. Then i havent even gotten to the insane emphasis on remaining thin. Imagine dance practice for 6 hours and then coming home and eating a banana and celery for dinner. The obsession with dieting while trying to sing and dance, sometimes for hours if you're doing a concert. On top of all this, you are expected to uphold a visual standard as well, facewise. Which means plastic surgery after surgery for every idol. I doubt there's an idol in Kpop that hasnt had at least one procedure done. You're judged for vocals, dance, onstage charisma, personality, body, and face. Lotta folks make fun of Kpop for being manufactured which it is for sure. But so is Western pop and all pop music, which is all controlled by the labels. But i dont think there's a single Western pop star that can handle the demands of a Kpop idol. They wouldnt last a week.
Why is this in the Kpop section if you didn’t ask for Kpop related questions though. I am moving it to ether Lounge.
Anything is more of a lounge thing, though. Also, unrelated but I always read your username as Mercedes for some reason...
There is too many letters in common, so it’s easy to misread.. the boy part at the end is what makes you do a double take though.
