    Group History part 1

Formed in the spring of 2008 as a six-member unit, the group was originally namedMomoiro Clover ("Pink Clover" or, literally, "Peach-Colored Clover"). The name was chosen to imply that the group was composed of innocent girls who wanted to bring happiness to people. Later in 2011, after the departure of Akari Hayami from the group, management added the letter "Z" to the group's name. The group's slogan is "Idols you can meet right now" (いま、会えるアイドル Ima, aeru aidoru?).

Momoiro Clover began as a street act in 2008, performing for bystanders in Tokyo's Yoyogi Park. As most members were students attending school on weekdays, the group was active mainly on weekends, leading them to be nicknamed "Weekend Heroines" (週末ヒロイン Shūmatsu Hiroin?). In a one-year period, Momoiro Clover had a number of line-up changes. In March 2009, they became a five-member unit composed of Reni Takagi,Kanako Momota, Akari Hayami, Shiori Tamai, and Ayaka Sasaki.

To support and promote their first indiesingle, "Momoiro Punch", Momoiro Clover took advantage of school holidays from May to August and went by minibus on a long tour across Japan. They gave a total of 104 concerts in 24 electronic stores of theYamada Denki network. The girls slept in the minivan, and group's managers drove. In the middle of the tour, Momoka Ariyasu was added to the group as a sixth member. The single was sold only at the group's live events and those sales were enough for it to place 11th in the Oricon Daily Singles Chart and 23rd in the weekly chart.[

    Group History Part 2

In March 2010, the girls stated their goals: to take first place on Oricon, to participate inKōhaku Uta Gassen, to perform at Budokan. They usually performed in a small club with live music or on a roof of a department store. They sometimes set a simulated stage of National Olympic Stadium, where notable musicians are allowed to perform.

Their first major-label single "Ikuze! Kaitō Shōjo" was released in May. The single debuted on Japan's Oricon Daily Singles Chart at the first position, and at number 3 for the week. Momoiro Clover then moved to King Records. The group's first single with King was "Pinky Jones", composed by Narasaki from the Japanese rock band Coaltar of the Deepers with a "more chaotic" approach than previous songs. December 24 marked Momoiro Clover's first solo concert at a concert hall. Nihon Seinenkan, a venue with a capacity of 1,300 seats, was sold out in 30 minutes.
In January 2011 at the release event for a new song, sub-leader Akari Hayami stated that she had decided to withdraw from the group in April. Hayami explained that her character was not suited to being an idol and that her dream was to become an actress.

    Group History Part 3
At the April 10 Akari Hayami "graduation" concert, the group's management announced the name change to Momoiro Clover Z . In Japan, Zゼットsymbolizes ultimateness and this letter is often appended to a title (e.g., Mazinger Z andDragon Ball Z). Z is officially pronounced as/zɛd/ (British pronunciation) when the name is used in spoken English.

Momoiro Clover Z's first single after Hayami's departure was "Z Densetsu: Owarinaki Kakumei", accompanied by a new group image and stage performance. The girls wore outfits with helmets and so-called "transformation belts" reminiscent of Japanese superhero movies, and the music video also borrowed from such "Super Sentai" imagery. In July, Momoiro Clover Z released their first album, Battle and Romance. Later in December, Hotexpress described the band as the number-one breakthrough idol artist of 2011 and stated that the album became a big turning point for them. Next February, Battle and Romance won the Grand Prix at the CD Shop Awards as the best CD of the year selected by music shop employees from all over the country. Momoiro Clover Z was the first idol group to win the award. On Christmas Day, 2011, Momoiro Clover Z gave a concert at Saitama Super Arena to their biggest audience to date: all 10,000 tickets were sold out. In May 2012, Momoiro Clover Z performed in Putrajaya, Malaysia. The Prime Minister,Najib Razak, personally greeted the group. In June, Momoiro Clover Z opened a national tour, which closed with a sold-out show atSeibu Dome in August to a capacity crowd of 37,000 fans. Both dates were broadcast live to selected cinemas across Japan, the latter also to Taiwan and Hong Kong.
The group recorded an ending theme song forPokémon's Best Wishes series (titled "Mite Mite Kocchichi" and included in the eighth single "Otome Sensō" as a coupling track). In July, Momoiro Clover Z performed at Japan Expo 2012 in Paris.

Momoiro Clover Z's ninth single "Saraba, Itoshiki Kanashimitachi yo", which appeared in November, topped the Billboard Japan Hot 100 chart, becoming their first single to do so.

On December 31, Momoiro Clover Z performed at Kōhaku Uta Gassen, an annual New-Year-Eve music show hosted by NHK, for the first time. Going to Kōhaku had been the group's goal for a long time. During the January 1 Ustream broadcast, Momoiro Clover Z made several announcements: that the band set a new goal for itself — to give a concert at the National Olympic Stadium, an arena with 60–70,000 capacity, that they would release a new album in spring, and thatMomoka Ariyasu had to undergo a throat treatment and she would not sing or even talk until the end of January. The treatment was subsequently prolonged for another month, until the end of February. During the group's live Ustream broadcasts, Momoka communicated by drawing and writing on amarkerboard. At live performances, other members took turns in singing her parts.

In March, the group held a solo concert atNational Olympic Stadium, realizing one of their dreams since the debut. Such solo concerts had been taken place only by six groups until then. Momoiro Clover Z was the first female group and also became the fastest group ever, which achieved that in six years. As a two-day concert, a total of 150,000 people watched in the stadium and at live viewing venues.

The titular single track is used as the ending theme to the anime Yosuga no Sora. The B-Side track, Koko Natsu is used as the soundtrack for their featurette movieShirome, while the other B-side. Kimi to Sekaiis used as the theme song for the TV variety show Idol-chin.

According to the composer NARASAKI, the song theme is about "around the world". The lyrics tell about a journey to find one's dream, as reflected by various folk musics in the world, such as from China, France, Carribean Steelpan, Indian, a bit of Scotland music and India folk songs, and finally arrived in Japan. Momoiro Clover's initial theme is traditional Japanese music, so the final place is supposed to be Japan and in the end those feelings were spread into the entire universe, hence the phrase Tenka tori ni ikuze (seize the world).

The song was available for pre-order from April 10, 2011, the day the live concert held on, until April 24, 2011 in King e-Shop. The profits were donated to help the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami victims.

The recording in the song is a mix between studio recording and the live recording. Just after the resignation of Akari Hayami, the song producer Kenichi Maeyamada was contacted by their manager Akira Kawakamito make a graduation song. He then interviewed the other five members in order to create the lyrics. The members answered in tears, one after another, such as "I want to thank Akari", "I want to give her support", "our memories with her, "I respect her" and "towards her graduation". The respective solo parts are also the words from each of the members. The chorus part is taken from their first major debut Ikuze! Kaitou Shoujo and the lyrics in the last chorus is replaced by "La la la" and was intended to be sung together by Akari and the audiences. Maeyamada instructed the girls to write a message to Akarin in 20 characters long, the messages were then recorded in a tremble voice. Only Kanako couldn't give her message and started to cry. The recording session was full of tears, even the staffs were crying.

The single was debuted and announced on May 17, 2011 in a Starchild Recordsconvention titled Spark! The song was produced by Kenichi Maeyamada who had written for Momoiro Clover trademark songs such as Ikuze! Kaitou Shoujo and Koko Natsu. The shout "Zetto!" was performed by the "big brother of the anime song genre" Ichiro Mizuki. The male voice narrating the song is the renowned anime and tokusatsu series narrator Fumihiko Tachiki. The stunning music and gymnastic dance formations were described as shocking and attracted a lot of attention.

The song is their new introduction song after their name change into Momoiro Clover Z and their first song in the Z era. Lyrically, the song is about their self-introduction, describes their personality and what will they do. Momoka Ariyasu commented that "this is one weird song, but this will become our next theme song. This song is really uplifting. The song was also made under the theme of "Hang in there" in a Momoclo-way, following the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake.

The music video was published on June 3, 2011 in their youtube channel. In the music video all members are wearing costumes in the style of sentai heroes, complete with helmets, scarfs, and transformation belts. The girls use transformation belts to become helmeted fighters looking like sentai warriors and as the Weekend Heroines, squadron fights fully armed with a song and a dance.

    Nihongo 猛烈宇宙交響曲・第七楽章『無限の愛』
    Released March 7, 2012

The single was announced in the sneak peek event for Mouretsu Uchuu Kaizoku anime in Shinjuku Wald 9 on December 22, 2011. The group appeared as a surprise guest and announced that the opening and ending theme will be provided by them. The song first debuted in Momoiro Christmas 2011 Saitama Super Arena Taikai on December 25, 2011 as a part of the encore andMarty Friedman with 100 members of Tokyo Chorus appeared as special guests.

The song is described as an epic love song with the theme of space opera. On the promotional photograph released on January 18, 2012, and in the music video released on February 26, Momoclo members are wearing pirate costumes. The costumes were based on rough drawings by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, best known for the character design of such anime series as Neon Genesis Evangelion and FLCL.

With the song being Universe-themed, its music video represents a Momoclo-style space opera. Kanako described the song as "So epic it feels like I'm singing in the middle of space while in the recording booth". Director of the anime Tatsuo Satou described the song as "a song, very descriptive of Moretsu. I am absolutely amazed".

To commemorate the release, on February 18, 2012, Momoiro Clover Z held a surprise live concert in front of Osaka Sankaku Kouen in Shinsaibashi, Osaka. A crowd of 3,000 fans gathered in the park to see the announced premiere of the music video on the big screen. After the video ended, the screen lifted to reveal the group standing behind it. Although puzzled at their identity at first, the audience greeted the girls with applause. Momoclo, down to four members because of Momoka's flu, performed five songs. The event was also broadcast live on the group's official Ustream channel. The surprise event is titled as Osaka no Guerilla Live.
