I feel like their is less shame in being a feminine boy in kpop, compared to western pop, often male idols do cute concepts which isn't really seen in the male pop stars of west

IDK how to fully explain it haha
    What do you all think?

Its definitely more fluid in general in Kpop. Less macheesmo in comparison to western male artists.

I don't feel like kpop needs more masculinity. I like it the way it is.

I don’t think “cute concepts” has to be seen as fem though. Being sweet, cute and caring can be masculine.

Oh yeah, I think thats why I love some boy groups, I really like femininity in guys and I think it sucks so much that their is so much pressure to be manly in the west.

My question is, why is being cute seen as a feminine thing? Being cute is just... being cute. It doesn't have a gender to it.

I think it's because being cute is attributed to being soft and vulnerable, and females have been considered to be soft and vulnerable for centuries now.

But seriously, I don't appreciate the idea of 'masculinity' and 'feminity' at all. Why focus on fitting into gender norms when you can focus on being a good, hardworking person people can appreciate?

Because us women have been infantilised by the people that won't take us seriously because of our gender so now cute=feminine apparently

I think Kpop has evolved to become this way in the 3rd Gen, but wasn't always. 2nd Gen BGs used to continuously lift their shirts up and show their bodies, and the aim was to be way more masculine than androgynous/soft.

2pm, DBSK/TVXQ/JYJ, BigBang, even EXO - if you look at their earlier stuff, they were seen more as "hearthrobs" rather than idols today who are more "beautiful".

Interesting how the industry has changed over the years!

    ^^ this
People looked down at SHINee for being too feminine and not fitting regular masculine image

Boys trying to be masculine always gives me a good laugh lmao. Why can't people be the way they are? If you like cute concepts, then do cute concepts. If you like darker concepts, do them. I just don't understand this whole masculinity thing.

I think the western world sees it that way, at least a little. Like being caring can be seen as a fem thing for sure.
