these are some of the Kpop videos that are inspired from cinema. Please feel free to share more/the ones I have overlooked: 1. Windflower by Mamamoo. Shot in Hong Kong, the video is inspired from the Hong Kong New Wave cinema. Especially the iconic works of Wong Kar Wai. You can see similarities in certain scenes in the MV and Wong's In the Mood for Love ( a must watch film if you love cinema imo). 2. What is Love? by TWICE. What to say about this iconic song that is full of references to many popular and cult faves? 3.Maria by Hwasa. Starting scene is a nod to the Italian film Malena. 4. The Red Shoes by IU. Based on a fairytale called the Red Shoes as well on an eponymous film called The Red Shoes (1948). The Album is titles "Modern Times", so go figure how much cinema is central to this IU album. 5. Kill Bill by Brown Eyed Girls. It is titled Kill Bill for a reason. 6. Married to the Music by SHINee inspired from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. 7. Give it to me by SISTAR. Inspired from the film Moulin Rouge. Fun film. 8. Doom Dada by T.O.P inspired from Kubrick's iconic 2001: A Space Odyssey (one of my fav films). 9. HOOT by SNSD. A great nod to James Bond. 10. Roly Poly by T-ARA. Apparently inspired from Saturday Night Fever. 11. L.I.E by EXID. Perhaps the most contemporary of this lot, inspired from Wes Anderson's Grand Budapest Hotel. These are some of the kpop videos I knew of or found on further research (read: one google search) that are inspired from actual works of cinema. Please feel free to add more in the comments and don't forget to mention the film! (This post is not about cinematic kpop videos but rather about kpop videos inspired from films).
