Nayeon said you're hilarious
The fun thing is TWICE still gets attacked for their Daesangs which means they are not forgotten, especially by antis.
They have twice and that’s self explanatory and then WG in their 10th year bagged a PAK and why so lonely went on to become a huge hit in 2016 and then Sunmi venturing off and being a legendary soloist.
Also we aren’t Korean nor do we live there to know so what’s the point of discussing this lmao but to add to the topic again, judging by how much WG, Twice, 2pm and Miss A songs get covered proves your statement to be wrong.
Well, strictly speaking comparatively to other Big 3 company, yes. JYP groups are way more forgotten than SM and YG groups. I don't see the lie.
If I were to put it in order from 1 being the company with the most memorable groups to 3 being the least:
#1 SM: SNSD, TVXQ, Shinee, EXO, RV (as much as I hate to admit it, you really can't beat SM. They really are the company with the most iconic well known groups)
#2 YG: only Big Bang, 2NE1, BlackPink
#3 JYP: just Twice and Stray Kidz.
For Wonder Girlz, I know they are legendary iconic girl group in Korea, but in Kpop on a whole, I think most ifans aren't familiar with them as much as they are SNSD and 2NE1. I feel like only Koreans or OG OG Kpop fans really care or stanned Wonder Girls. In fact, I don't think I've ever seriously met any actual WGs fans online. Even a few years ago when I first joined Kpop, it was all about SNSD and 2NE1.
For bgs sure. For ggs they start verybig but lose a lot of steam within a few years
No hate but how is Shinee up there? How did they rank in 2nd gen? What was their hit song?
are you guys reading what im reading???
op is lost
Twice forgotten? Hahaha
Skz memorable but not daesang winners and melon chart toppers who still get covered??? What's your criteria?
Agree about Miss A, 2PM and 2AM
I literally see nobody talking about 2PM or even talking about the member of 2PM, and i think if you ask to a new kpop fans a kpop song from 2PM or 2AM they wouldn't be able to answer it
and for Miss A same, that's the reason why koreans no longer remember the name of the Group and call them Suzy's Group
and for WG i wouldn't say the group have been forgotten, i think it's mostly the members beside Sunmi none of them is doing really great,
Yubin created her label but struggle to be popular as a solo artist
same for yeeun
sun try to comeback to the industry but it didn't work out
lim is doing nothing
and sohee is acting but her career doesn't seem to improve
when you compare to other Group like sistar where all the members are still popular
They were like super popular and Ring Ding Dong was a huge hit in sk and all over Asia.
biggest group behind** blackpink
Dont know, couldnt care less. Kpop stans nowadays just unnecessarily hype up grps and JYP stans arent usually noisy unless there is some issue within the company or, to extreme cases, fanwars.
Doesn't apply to all of them
Twice are the Nation’s GG
Why are Sm stans more obsessed with other groups than their own favs?
Kpop fans on a large actually know them. And by Kpop fans I mean more than just Korea.
If you grab a random Kpop fan on twitter or wherever, even irl, who are they most likely to know? Stray Kids and Shinee or Wonder Girls? Which groups will they most likely have heard music from of be able to name most if not all the members? Stray Kids and Shinee or Wonder girls?
That is my criteria.
Again, obviously Wonder Girls, 2pm, and Miss A are recognizable names in Korea, but Kpop is no longer just Korea. It's much bigger than that now. My criteria is based on the fact that these groups manage to still capture and remain in the consciousness of Kpop fans, managed to break through the generational gap. What OP is asking wasn't about achievements, it was about memorability. And though achievements play into that, there is no guarantee that people will even know or care about how much you were able to achieve in the face of growing periods of time as well as lots newer people becoming Kpop fans. More and more people get into Kpop every day and more and more groups fade from the general consciousness.
Stray kids aren’t even that popular in Korea I would replace them with itzy
I would include winner too
Yet WG managed to get on Billboard a decade ago. They also went on a tour with the JoBros and got a Nick movie, even Will Smith was a fan
Skz can't even enter billboard top 200 despite American distribution and label push, and a mass buying fandom
2pm managed to perform on Tokyo Dome for multiple nights. Nichkhun is the Thai Prince.
That's international enough, or all that matters is twitter fandom and english-speaking accounts?
And you can't just combine SHINee with skz, there's no comparison. SHINee are indeed a more memorable group than WG but skz just debuted a couple of years ago. There's nothing about them that says "manage to still capture and remain in the consciousness of Kpop fans, managed to break through the generational gap" Yet
You can't base international success on twitter fandom. Even Secret Number have more fans than Kara. Ateez More fans than tvxq. Does that change anything about their impact?
And these other jype groups managed to get so many achievements in a time where mass buying and social media wasn't so common. Skz can't get half of that despite having that advantage
WG had hits.
2pm is not forgotten, I am sure if any of the members attend a variety show now they will get more ratings than even current top bgs. All of them are known to public. They are established actors too. I dunno in what world they are unforgettable.
MissA - agree similar to fx.
Twice - they have huge hits no one is going to forget those songs.
