Am I the only one that finds Itzy's concept ironic? Their concept is all about not caring what people think and deciding to be themself but their kpop idols whos career is determined by the public.

i find it more ironic that jyp makes the lyrics in their songs talk about being themselves and self-love when he made lia and chaeryeong diet to let them debut.

yeah i remember a thread made about this a couple weeks ago and i still feel the same as i did then...

all kpop concepts are fake and in-genuine. you have cute boy/girl concepts who sing "oppa/unnie saranghae" but you know those idols would never *glance* at their average fans romantically in really life. you have bad boy/girl crush concepts that sing about being badass, but you know if those idols acted like that on varieties they would be cancelled for "attitude controvery", rock concepts where the idols don't even play insturments.... etc, etc.

i love kpop, but concepts are all just a "concept" not real

yeah, i understand but i dont blame jyp as much, if any one is to blame, its the whole korean culture. You can say asian culture as well. Of wanting idols to a certain weight.

Yeah at the end of the day Kpop is still Kpop. Not some mozart or whatever..

I have to agree. And the fact that their songs keep talking about how they love being themselves, yet, I don't know what they're about. Who are they? What's their concept?

The girls are talented as hell, don't get me wrong but they need direction, which is something JYP is NOTORIOUS for lacking at times.

I don't really perceive that as their concept. But I understand how people see it based on their songs.
The more fitting description is girl crush.

Mozart is just Mozart too. People used to think rap was just noise in the 80s. Now look at where it's at. K Pop is deeper than you think as is music in general.

Yea that's why I'm kinda turned off from them. They are all about being unique but I'm just not feeling it. I love the members but let's be honest itzy concept isnt something we havnt seen before. I really hope jyp improves on that so I can fully stan them. Glad they're a success though

self love and confidence is just what's cool now, so of course jyp is gonna profit off it while all at once not really supporting it. he critiques his female idols' weight for a living.

I don't understand Korean either. Or Japanese but I listened to J Pop/ J Rock for YEARS. There are things other than the lyrics and meanings that make music deep should you subscribe to that theory.

Yeah youre right, sorry for that. The only music that means so much for me eventho i know little of the meaning is Islamic music, for me its deeper than any other songs. For example

That's understandable and nothing to be sorry about. Not everybody takes everything as serious as the next person.

I know what a concept is. That doesn't make it any less ironic.
