I am 2 days away from getting my Park Bom tattoo and I still can't decide if the banner under her face should read Bom or Bommie. Does anyone know why she is called Bommie? Input please!!!

Why do you think just Bom?
I think just because Bommie is longer it will look better in the banner under the face. Just curious what your reasoning is.

You have great reasoning and it sounds promising and I think you should follow what you want because I should have no control over something as important as getting a tattoo however my reason for choosing Bom over Bommie is simply preference :)

Thanks, my only worry is that I fear just calling her Bommie could be considered offensive. I have no idea why I feel this way.

As a side note I have like a million tattoos so getting a new one doesn't feel like a big deal. I guess this one is important because it is my first K-pop tattoo. I am only planning on getting on more k-pop tattoo and that is a cartoon picture if Soyul because she is my bias.

Thanks for taking the time to put forth your advice.

Bommie is a nickname like others have said. Since you asked why, it is just said that way for 2 reasons:

    1. In Korea, people will often add an "ee" or an "ah" sound to the end of a name. It's like a playful nickname thing that you sometimes do with people close to you. It happens in English too, for example my cousin is called Joshua, but we call him Joshy (Joshua -> Josh -> Joshy).

    2. Most first names in Korea are 2 syllables. 1 syllable names exist but they're not as common. You'll rarely hear someone refer to their friend with just the one syllable, they'll almost always add an "ee" or a "ah" at the end. It sounds more comfortable. For example, Chan from Stray Kids is called Chanie by all his members (even the younger ones call him "Chanie hyung")

She calls herself Bommie and everyone calls her that so I don't think there's any problem if you wanted to use that nickname. It's cute! :teeheek:
