I do think BTS will take the lead. EXO is basically making a hiatus now, it's already too long since their last comeback so general public maybe could forgot that they're still existing.

Dunno if their new song is as good as "Growl" or "Call Me Baby" though. They can take a toll from there.

It’s unpredictable because EXO is what I would call Korea’s golden boys. So generally speaking, if it was the GP, it’d be exo

But with the inclusion of internationals streaming? Idk.

yeah it’s prob exo since hiatus means people would be anticipating them so much and even tho BTS are really popular in international, i think their popularity is a bit smaller than EXO’s in KOREA.

I mean tbh, I don’t think charting is reliable either as you can stream non stop to chart but that’s not a direct representation of HOW successful the comeback and songs are (or even how good the songs themselves are, no shade implied). Since these people are not genuinely listening to it because they want to but because they want to “chart” lol, (this is why I also don’t want kpop to come into the West industry.. as in the West, talent is recognised by genuine listeners) in KPOP, it’s essentially who has the most dedicated fanbase :/

Kpop nowdays is also abt looks and popularity instead of talent and underrated groups.

It’s so sad, it’s why a measure of “success” is literally non existent in kpop, I tend to focus on just listening to what I enjoy rather than trying to be superior by having high numbers which mean nothing lol

Tbh, I still think EXO would be leading IF they release a good song that would be generally liked by the gp rather than just the fandom.
If not, then it could go to either boy group.

Looking at how their digital was last year and how BTS is getting better now, my bet is on IDOL. Unless EXO cb with another national hit.

    BTS.

Exo's last comeback (Power) is tragic on charts. I'm actually quite surprised seeing Ko Ko Bop doing quite well on charts when it was first released.

Below is the list of number of unique listeners on Melon at the time of the song's release (as of Mar'18).
Now BTS’s Fake Love got 107,885 uls at 1st hour, while Idol is 104,827k uls.

All bts songs have performed better than Most exo songs Spring day is one of the best performing songs in all of boy groups and Fake love beat exo's discography by a huge margin if it comes to digital sales

Yes. But Exo is more popular than BTS in korea. Digital sales are nothing when BTS has a huge fanbase outside korea. The charts they focus more on are the korean charts which intl fans can't do much about it
