It was more available in the west, and if their was a bigger fan community that translated stuff and kept track of sales etc.

I honestly like Japanese language better than Korean, so I would follow it more with pleasure

I think a lot of people would enjoy jpop more if they tried it. the community won't get bigger and there won't be more translated content if people are not willing to join to begin with. just look at produce48 and the amount of people who started uploading and subbing akb content during that time. most stopped after the show ended but you could see the increase of online content at that time.

what I'm trying to say is that if people like you who think they could like jpop don't join the fandom because of the lack of ifans and content, things won't get better. but if people like you still join and search for the content and for other fans to talk with, eventually the ifans community will get bigger and there will be more content. so yeah

I'm going to disagree on the sales part though that would be step 1 of turning into the kpop fandom and I hope this never happens to the jpop fandom. being too popular internationally, the crazy fans, obsession with charts, sales and views... I hope this stays in kpop only

I'm not talking about songs, I mean content like all the radio shows, variety shows, tv shows etc.

Then you should listen to KANA-BOON or One OK Rock.
My favorite band is Galileo Galilei, they have nice songs that I think you should try to listen. (The opening theme for Ano Hana is Galileo Galilei's Aoi Shiori). They have this nice rock vibe. E.g.:
They disbanded, but Yuuki (the vocalist) and others made another band: Bird Bear Hare and Fish (BBHF). Their song "Laika" is, btw, the opening theme for Boruto. But nvm that, their best song from the album "Moon Boots" until now is "Ukuraine".

@Yseki if you like King & Prince you can find some subbed content here: https://twitter.com/QPLOVEsubs

You can also ask other ifans where they find their content. There is always a place to find them. I know the place for 48 groups for example. But idk for Johnny's. That Twitter is a good start though

I think another problem is that Kpop fans expect too much of the same Kpop content in Jpop compared to Kpop. I think Kpop is more the exception than the norm. Other industries don't have this much content for idols (some do but yeah not many groups) and not much is subbed but you can still find things and enjoy being in the fandom if you find the right places

Adding on to this post, if you like Kinpuri try signing up here: https://kinpuri.livejournal.com/

They sub stuff from time to time and usually have album downloads, performances etc. It's probably one of the better fan communities for them. I think it's still open to anyone, but you just have to wait awhile before they approve you.

Hope this helps a little. <3

I actually do, save for my favorite K-groups, of course. I've just been out of touch with it for years now. But I know if I tried, I could start finding content again.
I'll check out some of the videos posted here!

A tale as old as time. I still don't understand the aversion to posting full length music videos on YouTube.

Actually... I think they don't want this to become internationally famous. Japan has really specific fan culture and international fans are demanding and really somewhat .... problematic.

Anyway it's true that Japanese music market is better, more diverse and original then Korean. J-rock, j-pop, lot of solo artists. Truth is that Korea is idol music+ ballads. Japan have so much to offer in terms of music.
