If I didn't see this video, I wouldn't think this is something bts made. it's just a snippet, but the bts i know is no where to be heard. It sounds so fricken american

for y'all quick to label me as a hater, bts is my ult group. they may be trying new things, but dope was also trying new things, yet dope was full to the brim with their identity. this...i don't fucking know. i thought the exact same thing with bst's mani mani mani. you can tell when music has identity or when it's just trying to fit in a genre

yeah the chorus struck me as a pretty typical to the songs that get played on the radio here but they are trying to break through here so that may be why they are going for that sound

Well they're trying to break into the American market, so why wouldn't it sound "American"?

Kings of versatility strike again. I luv that they always change up the sound. No one wants to be stuck in 2009 kpop sound. How boring would that be.

Anyways, people that have already heard the song say its different than the sneak peak we got, so how about waiting for the song to drop to start ranting lmfaooo

BigHit and their trolling ways strike again.

Serious question tho. What do people mean when they say americanized? Im shit at theory and I've never actually come across a good answer, so can someone explain how kpop differs musically from western music?

the bts i know never sticks to one style/sound/genre, so i'm not really sure what you mean. they could release a damn country album and i wouldn't be surprised

Kpop is always inspired by American music.
Many kpop groups use samples or entire parts of American music.
Or buy rhythms from American producers.
His comment does not make sense, just about being a troll or being ignorant

6 second clip and already it’s “OMG SO AMERICAN.” Let’s wait for the song before making judgements :sweatr:

    some differences i noticed
    • kpop is usually more melodic, they don't always use the typical chord progressions
    • half the time kpop ends their songs are usually unresolved
    • more modulations
    • more harmonies and adblibs (bc more singers)
    • american music usually have 3 versus
    • while kpop has 2 versus + climax
    • kpop incorporates dance breaks more often
    • the integration of rap is different (can be slow, semi-sung, rapped over someone singing)
    • for males groups the songs are much higher and usually ment for girls to sing.

ppl will argue that kpop takes songs from american artists which is true, however those songs that are bought are ones that are generally rejected from the top. they're not bought from the american market for a reason.

Kpop as a whole is super westernized....
Plus, bts doesnt really just stick to a single genre
