So we have Korean students in our campus and sometimes I meet them at some events and we have conversation.

Not just I haven't ever mentioned that I like Kpop, I actually pretended that I've never heard of it in my life :D

We were talking and other girl joined us, and unlike me she immediately brought up BTS, "Oh, I love them" and stuff, typical fangirl. And you know what I did? I said "What is BTS?":waterr: Forgive me BTS. forgive me ARMY. Forgive me all Kpop fans:waterr:

Kinda shitty when you have to pretend to not know something because you are afraid of being judged, but I get you

Also, the moment I met a Korean guy and he asked me if I knew Kpop I said yes and because he didn't know about BTS I had to awkwardly pronounce their Korean name

I felt that nervousness too when I joined my new school, but the Korean students I met there saw through it immediately and were very sweet about me being a fangirl, which made things so much better. They even offered to teach me Korean (I think that was mostly because it would look great on their university application but who cares lmao)

Isn't it kind of shitty that just because there is a korean student/person a person would try to bring up idols and stuff? Like you can steer the conversation to go that way but to blatantly mention your faves is pretty awkward. It's like you don't even care on their persona, you just want to know more about kpop from koreans.

That's what I though, right? That was pretty awkward.
Lol if I said I like Sinb or Umji they would've thought I am weird as fuck and I have 0 taste, judging by their standards. I would probably mention Irene or Suzy if I did.

Now, I did the exact opposite. I decided as a joke, I'd over exaggerate how much I like certain idols, and people don't realize I'm kidding. So when I tell them, nobody believes that I'm joking and think my life revolves around BTS. I was an inch away from having a mental breakdown one day because people wouldn't leave me alone. I regret ever mentioning them.
(literally nobody in my school understands my unfunny sense of humor)

hehehe I'm so proud of myself for not caring about people and always openly talking about my passion for kpop whenever I have the opportunity :D (people would usually listen to me and then change conversation though lmao)

welp, most of my korean students knows BTS is all over the place. I sometimes ask them how serious the war between ARMY and EXOL is in their country and they told me its pretty serious so they try to stay away from it xD talking about Kpop among Korean people, there's nothing wrong with that, they would appreciate that even. You just have to take note that not all Korean are into that deep in Kpop, and even some doesn't really care at all. But if ever you met some Korean, Kpop is definetely a good topic to talk about with them :D

Mm, well not necessarily, isn't it kinda normal to talk about stuff that you are interested about and other person might know about too? Like when I meet exchange students etc., we tend to discuss about our countries and ask questions ^^

Other thing would be trying to push it to people, but I don't see mentioning that you like kpop and what groups that bad, just move on if the other person isn't interested though.

I once had Power's cover on my tablet and I have to take it out to check something, everyone close to me was judging me for that.

So yeah I dont say I like kpop because my sister usually does that I just own up to it
