Comment on live streams for idols to speak english?

I personally dislike it when fans keep pressuring idols to speak english during live streams. When they comment, "Oppa~ English plz", "plz plz plz speak in englishT-T", "PLZ SPEAK IN ENGLISH"

Yeah I understand you want to know what they're saying and hear them say something in your language, but keeping on forcing them and pressuring them seems a bit mean to me. There are idols who say they are uncomfortable speaking english because they say they're not good, and I don't think we fans shouldn't try to force them to speak it.

I get wanting to understand what they're saying and getting them to say something in english making the fan feel special but... it feels a bit odd. Almost disrespectful? And a bit awkward. Should just let them speak their native language. Most of the time someone will add subtitles a bit later and if it's such a big deal, go through the effort of learning korean.

It's disrespectful.Like, you can either watch and try to interpret what they're saying or wait for someone to sub since most fandoms have people who sub videos.Asking idols to speak in english a million times is rude and annoying af

it's okay if the idol can speak English easily, and only a minimum of comments say that

but on like blackpink's vlives where there's nothing but "speak English unnie" it's stupid and immature. and don't even get me started on when they start bringing up ships with other idols

It's so annoying and I always skip that part. Majority of these idols cannot even speak english and the fact they are releasing these vlives in the first place is something that ppl should be grateful for. If you want to understand them, then be like every other international fan and wait for the subs. If you don't like that then stay away from k-pop (aka Korean pop music). One of the reasons why I watch vlives every once in a blue moon. Fans are so freaking aggravating.

Annoying. I get you want to understand, but don't tell people who speak their language in their country to speak another language.

Annoying. But I also think it's annoying when an English-speaking kpop idol (like Jessica or Amber) speaks in English to communicate with their western fans and k-fans post for them to speak in Korean. Don't infringe on the idol communicating with their kfans or with their ifans.

But I also agree with @vivante that bringing up ships or rumors or fandom in-jokes (which sometimes are rude af) or asking for a different member is worse. Like, you get that they're people, and not a living fantasy, right?

It reeks of entitlement. I wish the idol would respond with "Speak Korean!"

I think it bothers me the most when it's someone who always makes a stab at speaking and reading English but obviously knows very little. Let them do what they feel comfortable with!
