That is annoying. But you lost me at "I don't want to get shot."
Then that's stereotyping, not being racist.
I am lucky to live in a very quiet neighbourhood :3
I feel like I would probably start blasting my own music just to shut theirs down or maybe call the police from a public phone so my neighbours don't realize I called them...idk...
When we have this kinda problem my dad just goes knock on the neighbors door and politely asks if they can lower the volume of their music. It usually works (as long as you're polite), but if someone is rude and keep doing it then my dad calls the police and explains the situation and its fixed that way, but it rarely comes to that and we only do it if it's late hours.
I don't have to deal with rude neighbours, I ignore them and keep to myself.
Other people have given you good advice. The only thing I have to add is that a family moved in near my family a few years back. They blasted their music SO LOUD that it was annoying when we were inside with all the doors and windows closed.
Upon going and calmly mentioning it to them, it was discovered that they were testing their equipment (they had their own dj company). But they didn't realize it was bothering everyone else, so they tried to turn it down.
Perfectly nice people. Perfectly fine outcome. Doesn't always work, but going at it defensively or aggressively will only make the other people defense/aggressive (no matter who they are).
