    So, apparently, MLD Entertainment confirmed that Momoland's Daisy is dating iKON's Yunhyeong, but YG denies it (as always...)
    The latest post of her on Momoland's Instagram is already locked for comments because iKON fans went there and flooded hate comments with the hashtag #Mediaplay
    Think with me now
    Every time an idol couple is revealed, both companies get their market shares devalued a lot, the idols start receiving tons of hate, and many of them give up on both groups

    THEN, IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE A COMPANY USING THIS FOR MEDIAPLAY, THEY ALWAYS LOSE WAY MORE THAN WIN WITH THIS, SO PLEASE, PUT YOUR GOD DAMN BRAINS TO THINK, THANK U AND STREAM WJSN AND GFRIEND

    It's just crazy fan girls, they don't think before they write hateful stuff like that. Every fandom has them and it's really irritating that they try to tear other women down. It's always sad watching women degrade other women but it happens a lot in the kpop world...

    every fandom will have its share of batshit fans. but from what i see so far, many iKONICs want the boys to date if that makes them happy. look when BI said he's a fan of dahyun, a lot of fans are rooting for him instead of sending her hate. especially fans who have been with them since WIN, they're treating the boys like their sons.

    Hate to break it up to you. But it's a long known info, that companies do sometime used dating scandal/rumors as mediaplay (not specific to this case ofc). Think of it like business risks. The bigger risks, the bigger the returns (and ofc loses too). Sometimes, one side win over the other (like people pity the girls over the guys vice versa and their (or the other company) name starts to be more known), or both win or both can lose.

    It all depends on how the companies respond to it. They might have analyze the risk/situation before pursuing it. Some might actually work, and some might not. But business risk is a business risk, it doesn't stop the company from taking it since some of it might actually work. Yes, market shares do sometimes drop in a short period of time due to losing of current fans, but then it spike back up high in slightly medium to longer term due to gaining more new fans or public recognition. You lose some, you gain some. It's just business.

    I gave you 1 simple example. BtoB x DIA dating scandal.

    1. Idols meet at a gathering or had some form or some sort of casual contact.

    2. A certain company sees this as an opportunity.

    3. Spread dating rumors through a certain channel in early of the month of Aug'18 which is totally align/so closely with the other group comeback.....

The other group traction increase, not even in Top 30 for girl group brand reputation in May, June, July (and months before), but then got no. 19 for Aug and no.18 for Sept with very high on Community Perception Index (community’s perception of them/social marketing worth), also got first win right after that.

    8. That's how you do the business or aka marketing.

    Note: You could say almost the same thing happen to the male group as well. Previous months brand ranking is usually between 8 to 11 places. But just in Aug alone it shot up to no. 5 (but it goes down back to 8 in Sept tho), with the individual member Sungjae shot up to no.13 in Aug. But BtoB is usually more on the popular side, so I don't have much to speak about them in this particular case.

    The point is, if the company play their cards right, they can definitely get some gain on this.
