too tiny to read
Clink on the twitter link to see the original post, i'm ion my phone and did not take it well.
I by Taeyeon also passed 2.5 Million in downloads too! Queen of Solo acts!
You can really see the general music taste of South Korea based of these downloads better than you can their charts.
When I see these charts I start to wonder why the sales pattern was so much different from nowadays
Look at Miss A Good Bye Class. This song was able to sell over 2,5 million copies in one month, a instant smash. Yet, that song was unable to sells over 3,6 million, barely 1 million more than what they sold in first month
Look at Blackpink's Playing With Fire, despite a worse market environment (after que price-change) that song could keep selling week after week while 2011-2012 hits failed to do so. It's the same situation of 2PM Hands Up, f(x) Hot Summer, SNSD The Boys, Bigbang Blue, 2NE1 You're The Best, etc
If someone has some explanation please it would be awesome if you could tell me =)
The market grown a lot:
And the IFPI data is not complete when it comes to South Korea, the real value is bigger.
The sale volume actually decline after 2012 (due to price change of subscription service). Yes, you are a right, it started to rise in 2015, but the question remains: The songs are now selling slowly but steadily when in the past they used to sell very fast but have small legs
And I have no clue about why this change on consume practice happened so abruptly
Streaming has been taking over download all over the world and there are a lot more options to listen in melon now.
