I mean as in, do you think that they word things around to make it something so little look like a big thing? I was scrolling through twitter when I found YouTube statistics and how it's always worded something like "X group Haines 50 million views, making them the first kpop boy group to gain these views in 43 hours".

It's all about clickbait, they have to make you think you've found a pot of gold when you have just stepped into hell on Earth.

When did fans begin to care more about statistics over music?

But yes I think fans do exaggerate statistics. I think some people find happiness in fluffing up their favorite idols as much as possible. TBH I think this cheapens actual statistics that are impressive because we've just become jaded.

yes!!!!!!especially for youtube views.........i found it is funny.
some of the kpop fans think that the youtube view express the quality of the music.
also, they think that broking the youtube records show that the song is great.
some of them may even take the sns statistic to judge a singer or a group.
i don't understand why we should use the views or sns to value a singer.

Yes. But I would like to see their favs music video when their fans aren't streaming it and see how many views it gets. Probably won't be very much unless it's a group with lots of public recognition.

I'm not sure they exaggerate the statistics themselves (if for no other reason than it's too easy to call bs on it if they did), but they certainly exaggerate the importance. Plus making up new records for shit no one previously cared about or was keeping track of.

Breaking a record is a good thing even if you don't consider it important it is for the fandom

But when you exaggerate the result, it becomes stupid!

But you said "when you exaggerate the result, it becomes stupid" so I'm confused, you said it without knowing what you mean?

Yes, when they run out of records to brag about they just create more records to brag about (first it was YouTube views, then YouTube likes, then fastest YouTube views, then numbers of hearts they received, the list goes on)

    Yup.. I do.
There was a thread here about a week ago, touting a boy group as having sold over 145 million albums. One use called the OP out, and it was a mess as other stans came to defend what was said, even though the user wasn't being rude. This person was just presenting facts, even cited several reputable sources to question what was being said, while the OP used Wiki (the most unreliable info resource on the web).

Sad part is. The group is already legendary, so this thread was just petty, AND gave me another reason to eyeroll the fandom.

Let your bias group's talent speak for them. Not some stats.

only salty people care about what fandoms say about records.

if they aren't pressed about it - they wouldn't give a flying fuck about "irelevant" achievements.
    its simple as that.
