What if a western artist, like a rapper, made a remark about how they don't like Kpop, claimed that it's cultural appropriation, and exposed all the racially insensitive things kpop artists have done. Then all the kpop haters could use that opportunity to come out of the woodwork and start up a very vocal backlash.

In 2011 when a Japanese actor made a tweet about how he didn't like Korean dramas being shown on Japanese tv which started a bunch of anti-hallyu demonstrations.

Also, don't forget the Chinese backlash against Tzuyu because she held a Taiwanese flag in early 2016. As well as the THAAD issue which caused China to ban kpop for a while.

Also, there's a history of tension between Blacks and Koreans, with what happened with LA Riots in 1992 and rooftop koreans.

Do you think this could happen?
How do you think Knetz would react?

I don't think people would take kpop seriously enough for this to happen

The examples you used are extreme. There are deep history between those Asian countries.

I doubt an American artists' insults would actually invoke a big outcry from kpop fans.

If Post Malone can disrespect hiphop itself and six9 can freely say the n word without getting jumped and still chart as well even tho he’s not black then I don’t see why hiphop artist needs to call others from other countries when they got bigger problems over there

I think a lot of the more ignorant Americans see K-pop as something ridiculous and hilarious, claiming all the boys are gay and dismissing the music as non-legit.

So they already don't take it seriously, and they're probably not going to start to.

maybe who knows -- but for that to happen western artists need to feel threatened first -- currently they are capatilizing on it -- n everyone outside the kpop bubble view bts as another gangnam style fad -- they havent taken it seriously enough for this

nah, people won't care enough lol. At most you'll get a small time celeb that says something and it wouldn't even be big.

I think the most likely scenario is that people just... stop caring.

At the very least, I think the next big racist incident from a kpop artist could make international headlines like Jonghyun's suicide, which could start a Twitter backlash. Like #KpopisRacist

But maybe the political climate is so heated that is won't be such a big deal, eg. Post Malone being seen as a bigger offender, the North Korean-American summit, and liberals being fired up at the moment against Trump, etc.

Also the fact there was a good reaction to Psy/Gangnam Style despite his past scandal where he held an anti-American concert.

K-Pop is not relevant enough in the US for this to happen. People seem to forget that it's a niche.

Before people go exposing kpop artists they need to expose america for all its manufactured and propaganda racism
