I would always see comments about how the fans would take credit for everything that a group does. For example, "Group X got their first win because of us. We finally got our first win you guys yay." They make it seem as if they're the ones who got the award and then next thing you know, that ends up becoming a bragging right and then next thing you know the fandom gets a bad rep, and to some that could end up reflecting onto the group.

If you asked me this months ago, I would have said yes, but recently my answer has been no. I've learned that it is possible to like a group but still hate the fandom.

In case you are still confused with what I'm asking, I'm pretty much just asking if you think a fandom and a group work as one, as if the fandom is part of the group or do you think the fandom and the group are two completely separate things.

This is a difficult answer because fans don't represent their group but groups try to get the whole message out that they're one with their fans and that without their fans there would be no them.

Well, I guess the fans are the ones who put money into the group and therefore made them win in the first place

I don't usually hate groups for their fans though

    It's a symbiotic relationship.
    Both need each other.
One works hard to entertain and the other works hard to make sure the person keeps entertaining.
Both are equal in this relationship.
    Both keep each other alive.

That's just a strategy to make the fans stick with the group, so they won't stop buying stuff from the group I guess.

Almost like some cults say: "Money is bad. Give it to us."

Without a fandom, the group will flop and fall into nugudom and then ultimately disband for a lack of sales in all departments.
Are fandoms and groups separate entities? Yes. Can one live without the other? No.

ehhhhh i think this topic is very broad. on one hands youre asking about fandom representation of a group, and on the other if you can be fans without liking the fandom.

so i think im going to try to answer it the best i can. It depends, there are certainly groups that got where they are based almost solely on fandom power, while some groups are able to rise with promotions.

im really not sure. just speaking from experience, when red velvet wins i dont really see fans saying "we" got a win, more like "our girls" won.

Fans are the buyers, the customers, Idols are the product in sale. Products need buyers, doesn't mean a product is a buyer. Just like that svt guy said fans are money makers, that's all

I just see it as fandoms are happy that the group that like succeeds, as cute as the idea of groups being nothing without the fandom, the fandom doesn't include casual fans from other fandoms nor does it include the public so a group could survive without the fandom and the fandom is more of a safety net.

well, i think yes, but i don't want to interfere in their personal lives
i'm here to support them as much as i can but i would never like them to be unhappy or scared of what fans will think if they do something (dating for example)
the bond is strong but it's not THAT strong lol and it shouldn't be
