Interior Design Of Chinese Produce 101 Training Center Wows Netizens
    MARCH 26, 2018
    [IMG]

The filming for Chinese version of ‘Produce 101’ has already kicked start and its official Weibo had teased us with pictures from behind the scene.

We all know that this time the copyright licence was purchased from Mnet and we expected everything to be the same like we what have seen in both seasons of ‘Produce 101’. However, we were wrong.

From their training center, dormitory to cafeteria, the interior design and set are seen to be an upgraded version of what we have seen before.

Its combination of pink and blue gives off a girly vibe and even fans are jealous of how well-prepared the dormitory are for the trainees. Netizens could not help but compare them with the Korean version.

With such high quality interior design and set built especially for the girls, it is hoped that the girls would have proper rest despite the intense training. In addition to that, China has definitely raised the quality of the show. It also shows that perhaps for Mnet’s ‘Produce 48’ which is expected to air in May 2018, they might have to put in more effort to maintain the standard.

In the upcoming Chinese ‘Produce 101’, WJSN’s XuanYi and MeiQi were reported to be participating in the show. Together with EXO’s ex-member Tao, who was casted to be the head producer and GOT7’s Jackson who was also casted as a judge, it is expected to begin its broadcast in April.

My latest guess of production costs for PD48 (KOR + JPN) ~$36 Million USD
(a former calcu of ~28 Mio. was to less)
    ________________________________________________________________________________

The German format 'DSDS' (Deutschland Sucht Den Superstar) aired by RTL 2018 had production

costs of estimated ~$24 Mio. until ~$28 Mio. USD
they start with auditions in 4 cities (each 2000 people)

Teams select 400 boys / girls

In some shows they start in TV and a jury of four guys (woman/men) find 40 for pre-final.

In 6 music shows at the end only 1 solo artist wins and get music contract with music label include CD production.

Lol what? A entire drama that costs more than 10M is already a mega production in SK.

They'd never ever recoup 36M lel, where does that come from.

A lot of production costs PD48 you cannot see on TV (Ep. 1-6)

It is behind the stage. The jury members get each ~450k USD. The handling and preperation for each Ep. of the show

~2.5 Mio. USD (incl. technicans, camera man, edition manager, TV studio, stage scenery, outfit, etc. 25 - 30 people)

Estimated ~$10 Million USD come in by sponsors (advertistent + TV commercials)

You have to distinguish between K-Drama produced by KBS 1+2 or private TV.

Public service broadcasting has less money available than private stations.

In China? Chinese numbers are usually super inflated, lol you won't even get 100M people watching the world cup usually. Maybe they have a system where you vote for top 10 and first gets 100 pts etc, that sort of stuff.

In SK pd101 got 30ish million votes total? IIRC you get to vote for your top 3 and first gets 10 or something? So that's like 3M total voters (doubt it though cause pd didn't even have 5% rating and sk's total population is only 50M or so). But even 3M votes is like $300k at 100 won a vote so...

I totalled up the votes 1 billion must have made some cash off that, plus all the endorsements and advertising. I think they raked in some serious money before they even debuted

Your numbers are pretty off tbh. In SK only A-listers get paid more than 10k an episode on variety. Filming crew usually gets paid a miser (something like $1000 a month). For a show like PD they'd be lucky to earn 3-4M in total for advertising+sponsor/ppl, plus a bit more if they manage to sell it overseas/to netflix. Plus TV station has to make a profit.

Nah in China numbers are usually faked and super bloated. It's like on those porn sites where every video gets 5+ million views :D

Edit: Wait do you mean in SK?

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Produce_101_(season_2)

Even the final 11 winners had less than 1M votes on average total (that's across the whole show). Those eliminated earlier would have had way less.

Yeah maybe bloated who knows, but these shows are a legitimate money making machine pre-debut and that's a fact. The business model is tried and tested from the days they sprung up in the UK and then spread to the world. The views and hype = advertisers and tie ins plus charging for voting.

In my calcu of ~$36 Mio. USD is also included complete PD48 debut! (MV + CD production + TV stages) this investment of ~$4.8 Mio. comes back by sales volume and concert tour 2018 / 2019 (Japan/Korea + SE Asia + overseas)

Sales volume / revenues of ~$12 Mio. USD is thinkable. That catches the pre-financing and also the TV production costs.

Overall, therefore, a profit can be generated. (the ~$36 Mio USD are capped)

    If you compare PD48 with a K-Drama ~$10M USD (filmed in 4 - 5 days) and you have Ep.1 - 6
it would be already at ~ $60M ;):D
