So im genuinely curious since many people being so obsessed with the views, they no longer talk about the music quality but the views instead, comments about the number of views filled the comment section below the video (which actually annoyed me) instead of talking about the video itself, if a group cant get a high views (lets say 100M) they usually will be labeled as a nugu and not popular.

Sometimes the scenario might be like this:
    1. A group has big ass views on Youtube but they sold a lot less compared to
    2. B group that has a little amount of views but has high ass sales

In your opinion how could something like this happen? How come the group A that loved by many people sell less than group B? Is it more accurate to measure the popularity/success from count of the views or the sales?

Which one is more popular and success? A or B?

Id like to see you opinion (○▪○) :D

Well.... for those who still remember..

The views can count for popularity (no matter how good or bad the song/video may be), the sales can count for success so it has some nuance.

Tbh, I've never seen a scenario like B group- to have low views but high sales?
I'm curious, which group could you say falls into that category?

Considering Said group you are trying to drag was ranked second for income in Korea I would say YT views are really paying off.

    first of all,

popularity has never equaled quality. Let's just clear that up.

    Second,

Youtube views can be considered a part of success nowadays. Just youtube views aren't success, but what they do showcase is interest, passionate fans & reach. Success is translating that into things that earn you money. Things that earn you money would be music sales, tours, merch & CFs. The biggest ones being tours/CFs/merch.

As an idol or celebrity you want to be talked about & have interest in you. You're literally selling yourself as a brand in a way. Youtube views certainly don't hinder that. Especially when you start looking at the ability to crossover into other markets.

Youtube is a main platform if you want to be exposed. For kpop, it is THE main exposure outlet

I think physical sales shows the fandom and how many genuine fans they have, views are important but with things like streaming it has really lost all it's value as it is the same 10,000 fans zombie streaming it. I guess views do reflect popularity in some way but not on the same level sales do.

on the flipside, you have fans buying multiple copies inflating album sales.

well that's the conclusion for why a group can have insane high views and lower physicals than other groups.

As for the popularity I would say views show how popular a group is world wide but its still possible for a group to have high views but less popular in korea and japan compared to other groups

as for success depending on your definition what is successful that's another yes. If you have high views that means your popular, will have either good physicals or digitals, and mostly get invited to award shows and win awards.

Yeah that is true, I wouldn't be the person that thinks 200k albums=200k fans, because that is obviously not true. But it gives a better idea than views I personally think.

It separates casual fans from hardcore fans...as well as rich fans from poor fans.

youtube stats can be a good indicator of a group's popularity and general interest, which I guess can be considered success within itself as youtube is the main outlet for k-pop to reach their international fandom
