    From the billboard 200 charts.
In 2019 physical sales only accounted for 8%(due to Taylor & kpop) of music consumption in the US
They should make a separate chart for the physical album sales.
Billboard 200 is a consumption chart so I think it should accurately reflect what type of music is truly being consumed in the US as opposed to how many CDs boy groups have sold due to multiple versions & stuff...
We are in a digital age & counting YT streams is a step in the right direction but Removing physicals all together I think will do wonders for the industry✓
Or maybe they can regulate it somehow because it distorts the supposed "consumption chart"
    What do you guys think?

Nah, CDs is the music being consumed.

I think physicals should count less tbh. I think making streaming count more makes sense and outruling bundling and certain sales tactics like repackage albums is a good idea (although the BB charts dont count it anyway). I personally believe streams>physicals even though a lot of people disagree w/ that.

It's 2020 people. No one in America has bought a CD in like 20 years.

People buy physicals only because bring money to the artist/company. Nobody would listen to CD when you can stream from youtube or spotify anywhere you go. Even most new laptops don't have CD/DVD ports anymore. You have to buy additional device so you can use the CD. Physicals are slowly dying imo.

Considering people mass stream and download songs using multiple accounts, I dont think it's going to make much of a difference to the 'accuracy' of the chart

People will find a way to manipulate no matter what

Even without CDs, a free copy of a digital album can be given alongside a piece of merchandise or a tour ticket
That counts towards the chart, even though technically you dont need to listen to the album

I do think that the industry should just focus on one or the other
Either just have CDs or just have streaming
I feel that would be less complicated

The fact it only accounts for such a small percentage of consumption is why it should count, because it's actually impressive to have physical sales. It means people are willing to go out and buy your albums.
You've got to stop with this digital era nonsense just because BP don't sell as many albums as you want them to.

    Facts✓
Maybe they can count 4-8versions(I think SuperM did 7 or 8?) as 1
Like if you bulk buy 4-8 versions it'll still count as 1 album unit idk
But that should be the next thing billboard tackles

They should remove radio and streams from curated playlisting. Theres no customer choice there, only company politics.

Streams are still music being consumed by the masses you know
They should not completely ban CDs but they should count less than streams
Digital sales are still very much a thing due to bundling...

Digital sales are very much still a thing
Cd sales are just a way to cheat your way to the top nowadays with the many versions involved & gimmicks & fan signs & what not
Billboard will start to take notice this year, sooner or later they will have to phase them out
I expect physical to count for 5% of total music consumption in 2020

Lol radio is still kinda organic
Curated streams serve another purpose for the GP so I disagree
