SCANDAL is an all-girl jpop/rock band with four members.
ONE OK ROCK has four members too and is known for using english (which is uncommon in japan) lyrics in their songs. Theyre on the jrock genre. Anybody who knows them?

They are the only Japanese rock groups that I like.

I heard of SCANDAL but I actually never listened to their songs it's time to check them out
I really like OOR! *U* "Clock Strikes" is one of my favourite songs from them. I find it cool that they sing in english&japanese.

    Welcome to Jrock.

Scandal was my second obsession, behind Gacharic spin. I have all their albums, but Yellow is a disappointment to me. They are still drawing the largest crowds of any all girl Jrock band but IMO they peaked in 2012 at the Osaka Jo Hall concert, and Queens are Trumps, and have been just meh since....more Pop than Rock. Part of it, I think, is that they are now writing a lot of their own tunes, which are not quite as edgy as the ones the hitmakers at Sony gave them back in their formative years. Well.....maybe it's just a new phase for them.....

You can find almost all of them here:

There are a lot of good (better) all girl Jrock bands that are true to the genre, just not as big. Check them out:

    Gacharic Spin
    Aldious (lots of fans here)
    Band-Maid
    Hysteric Lolita
    Disqualia
FLiP (on hiatus, but also 10 yr. vets like Scandal)
....many more on the indie circuit....

I agree on that. I stopped following them hard since Yellow. There is alot of change in them which is i understand at first as they are growing up and no artist stays at one place literally, but as they become more and more pop and, like, more westernish (or is it just me) i find it hard to appreciate it then. But still, Scandal is number one for me.

Havent heard of those you mentioned except for FLIP whos indeed on hiatus now. Im a fan of Opps7 too, and Uverworld and Totalfat and SID and VIVID and YUI and a whole lot of jrock dudes out there, sadly most of the best are onhiatus/disbanded already. But yeah, ill try to check out more when i have the time. Thanks for recommendations.

You are right about the best on hiatus or disbanded.

FLiP was one of the tightest bands in Jrock, but the record companies wore them down. Destrose finally succumbed to instability with some very good new spinoff bands forming from the members....Fate Gear and Disqualia. Ganglion, who had great promise has announced they are going on hiatus. There are very few out there over 5 years old.

I would guess Exist Trace has been around the longest, they are still strong as ever. Aldious has hung in there for many years and just keep getting better. Gacharic Spin has been around for about 7 years now, with road hardened veterans at the core. Scandal is of course still here, but as you said, they have changed a lot.....not for the better IMO.

I suppose it's the nature of things in the world of rock bands. Change happens.

There are some very good new ones coming up. Check out the Focus on Indie Artist thread.
