Am I the only one that thinks SM is punishing Red Velvet by taking them to NK?

They send their only active girl group with a member who just recently became an adult. While their boy groups remain safe, those who earn them millions in concerts. Seohyun is going but in reality she's "SNSD" in name only as she's not even an employee of SM.

So it shows they care the least about their overworked girl group who are already in the middle of a packed schedule in Japan. Putting them at risk in a country that had a habit of kidnapping female celebrities. Because losing other groups would be too risky for their finances, not in terms of lives.

Even though RV won't likely get abducted like it occurred in the past they will be frightened and stressed out of their minds. In return SM puts out a press release pretending to be RV acting as if they are grateful.

I feel like RV is pretty stressed and kinda nervous about this tbh. Dunno about Seohyun since no one's forcing her to do this since she's not an SM employee anymore.

The abduction of Shin Sang-ok and Choi Eun-hee happaned under completely different circumstances. Everyone knows of this concert and the entirety of South Korea will have their eyes on this event. No one will do anything IMHO.
Plenty of people visit NK as toursits and they're just fine as long as they don't do anything against the law.

Don’t overreact. They will be fine. If there was even a slight risk, they would not send them.

Many other women were also abducted. Mostly Japanese. Either way there's a risk. Especially with a country as crazy as NK that was declaring nuclear war a few weeks ago but now all of a sudden wants to act nice for no apparent reason.

Well it's pretty unlikely that something actually happens to them, though I'd still be frightened if I was them. I admit the risk isn't inexistant.

But I don't know why you're assuming SM is punishing them. It seems like a rather random assumption.

Then why doesn't LSM go? Or any other SM artist with more seniority than RV? While Seohyun probably got an ultimatum, either she goes or no career advancement for her.

There's plenty of SM artists who aren't doing anything right now who could have gone in their place. RV has non-stop activities in Hong Kong, Korea, Japan and Dubai. And in the middle of this they want to jam 3 days in North Korea.

And you know how insanely the men of their own country reacted to Irene, and are now trying to destroy Irene by digging dirt on her and posting unflattering photos to ruin her image. Yet there's nothing to worry about going to a country that jails people for not bowing correctly to their leader? Any SM artist with seniority would have said no to this. If they asked Taeyeon she would have said fuck no to their face.

bull shit. There is risk, far more risk than say a trip to Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia ect.
Dude is batshit crazy and normalizing him will not end well.
The kids have good shot at being fine, aside from jet lagged badly from teh travel and worn down after days of concerts in Japan.

Well you and the other nutjob Americans.

The relationship between two Koreas aren't nearly as bad as people make it to be and the North Korea isn't nearly as hostile towards South Korea as they are towards USA. There is no issues with them going there.

Honestly i think Seo did it as a follow up to the Olympics bit, and because she has always been aiming to be a politician type person.
The kids probably would not have gone if she was not there, she actually may have asked.

Why assume it as a punishment? There is no point. We just need to hope that the girls return safe even though there are several tourists who travel to NK and come back safe.
