    1. General information on the reporting system; how it works

    Heeey

So it has been brought up to our attention, that the reporting system brings confusion and that many have no idea how it actually works.

So to clear up misunderstandings and the thought that moderators just hate you, your fandom or given artists - or that we are all biased towards a given fandom; we thought it would be best to inform you all about the reporting system.

When you see a mess or something/someone crosses the line and breaks the rules - you should report it, in order to give moderators the chance to look into it and take action.
When you report something, you get no guarantee, that it will be deleted/edited, because sometimes you see something against the rules, but that isn't the case.
When you report a comment or a thread, the moderators have this tool, where they, just like notifications, can see how many unsolved reports there are.
When we open a report, we then see the comment reported and the reporter's note/reason as for reporting.
The moderator then look into it and see if the report has any hold in it; if so they delete/edit and punish accordingly.
However, if the moderator is unsure or need another opinion, then they write that and wait for someone else to see and comment too (note that you can't see the comments we write) - and then they discuss and agree on what to do. After a report has been solved - it gets checked off.
That means not every moderator gets to see every report - and therefore different cases can be handled slightly different - but still follow the same rules.

It is just like notifications; when a mod sees the report and it is resolved, the other moderators don’t usually go back to them to check up on the solved one, since there is no need if it already has been solved and when new reports come in, the older ones get buried and can't be found unless directly searching for them.
The thing is, if we have many reports and we need to go through them, users get annoyed, besides of course feeling that they have been wronged if the report doesn’t get handled as they see it. The main problem is people don’t see anything with their behavior but point out the exact same behavior as for others - and that is the dilemma.
Sometimes reports can take some time before being solved, either because we are waiting for another opinion or because we are dealing with another report. But it won't help that you start a mess instead of just waiting or ignoring it. If it is against the rules - we will handle it.

However, something you should all know and note down is; we don't act faster or accept you attacking us through the reporting system - that isn't acceptable in any way, and it will be punished accordingly as if it was a normal comment targeting users. Abusing the report system to attack either us or other users are under no circumstances accepted - because we are also users; just with the extra work as for trying to make sure the place isn't messy.

To add to this; moderators get called biased and that we are after specific fandoms; however, the thing, users usually act differently, based on whether it is them reporting or them being reported. We can’t please everyone because it seems users all have different definitions of bashing and shading. Some don’t even try to see it from a different point of view; first we get called lenient when they report and when the table is switched around we get called harsh - no in between.

    2. New rule as for alternative accounts

    Heey everyone

So since AKP is progressing bit by bit - we also now have given the chance of getting your name changed - which has been a solid argument as for keeping the option of having alts - and even as many as you may wish for

Now since you have been given the option of getting your name changed - it has been done manually by @Eziio (look for the thread; Username changes under the subsection Tech or use this link https://www.allkpop.com/forum/threads/username-changes-open.172185/) and it may become a thing you can do yourself later on (we are still figuring it out).

But we as the moderation team has got to the conclusion, that it is about time to restrict or at least give out some additional rules as for the use of alts. We know many have alts for different reasons - but it has become such an utilized thing to troll, hate or go after people, that we have decided it needs to be handled differently.

From now on, each user are allowed to have 2 alts and no more - it may still be much with 2, but we don't want to just suddenly go to none alts at all. That isn't our intentions ^^

The thing is, some users have 7+ alts and there is no need for them - the only thing we see them used for is hating, bashing and going after people; basically just for breaking and coming around the rules.
So to make AKP a better place and make it easier for us to keep track of such use of alts; we would like to limit it to no more than 2 alts.
It will mean, that if you got more than two alts already, you are up for a choice; choose which two you will use and not log on the rest anymore/use them.
Breaking this rule will be punished accordingly; verbal warnings and WPs depends on the situation ~

    - If you have any questions, you are free to ask here or shoot any of the moderators a PM.

    - Love from; the AKP moderation team

    3. General information about WPs and the banning system

How WPs and the banning system work

Most of you still seem confused about it. Here’s a quick explanation on how it works.

    1 WP = No ban
    2 WP = 2 Day ban
    3 WP = 1 week ban
    4 WP = 2 week ban
    5 WP = 1 year ban

This system exists because the admins back when AKP got its revamp, made it like that.

You will get at least 1 verbal warning after you break a rule. After that depending on how serious the next rule breaking is you’ll either get another verbal warningoryour first WP. After this it’s up to your behaviour, if you break the rules or not if you get a 2nd WP or not.
WPs normally have an expiration date for a month. Meaning if you would get a WP today, it would be expired and archived 1 month after.

    Let’s say
User 1 get’s 1 WP. Not banned yet. The WP will expire in a month.
User 1 makes a bashing thread outside of BT. This will get them another WP.
Since the 1st WP didn’t expire yet, adding one more will give you 2 WP’s.
And since 2 WP’s mean a 2 day ban, that is what you will get.

If User 1 had made a really extreme comment crossing the lines of decent humanity they would obviously get more than 1 WP, maybe 2 or even 3 WPs depending on how extreme that comment was.

Meaning 1 + 1 = 2. 1 WP, added 1 more WP equals 2 WPs equals 2 Day ban. And this is how it goes with the 3rd, 4th and 5th WP.

Once you break a rule and on which "level", you’ll get 1 or 2 WP’s.

It isn’t like you immediately get a 2 day, 1 week, 2 week or 1 year ban. It is your own behaviour, not our system that initially gets you banned.
We are working on a change on the WP system tho, so it won’t immediately jump from 2 weeks to 1 year.

Hope this clears up misunderstandings, if you still have question please shoot ahead in the comments.

    4. New rule regarding the Bashing and Shading thread

    Hello all,

Due to a problem coming to our attention of conversations (often offtopic which means not bashing nor shading) being rampant in the Official Bashing/Shading Thread, the moderator team is instituting a new rule that will take effect immediately.
No quoting and no replying - Do not reply to other users or quote them. Any user who does this almost certainly risks a temporary thread ban for repeated violation of this rule. A permanent thread ban might also be instituted for some offenders who purposely and aggressively violate this rule.

Questions about this new rule can be asked in our respective thread or in private messaging on AKP if need be, preferably the first method

    Thanks,
    The Moderation Team

    5. New rule regarding clickbait titles - important to read, since only some restrictions have been made!

    Heey everyone

Yup, so we have listened to your complains and based on our own experiences too, we have decided to announce a new rule about clickbait titles

We have seen multiple threads using titles that has nothing to do with the given content in any way
Therefore the following rule has to be followed from today of and can be reported as a break of the rules:

You may not use a clickbait title that has nothing to do with the content of your thread
That means, you can use clickbait titles, tho it has to relate to the thread in a meaningful way
Unless we’re talking jokes or anons where it is meant for fun
    - so this rule is for serious clickbait titles such as using death or something like that to promote your thread and get clicks!

    This has been added, because some of you go too far with the clickbait titles;
we do allow clickbait, but when it goes out of hand, then it becomes a problem
We have seen everything from using diseases to using death of some people to promote a thread - and that is nowhere near anything we would like to contribute to
So please follow this given rule and if anything, report it and we will take a look at it

It isn't like we will stop you all from making any kind of clickbait titles meant for fun and that doesn't cause any harm to anyone - but we will take action against those that can be reason for fights/messes or just simply is seen to be too much

    - Don't attack people for using a clickbait title if you see it, no need for that; just report and we will take action if needed - we get nothing out of starting a bigger mess of a simple mistake~
So please don't report the thread for clickbait title if it actually relates to the content; we don't want to limit people totally and cut of any fun - so we're just asking you all to be responsible and not make serious issues and death into clickbait titles for a couple of extra likes!

    - EDIT:
This rule is mainly made so we actually can refer to the forum rules when someone uses serious matters as clickbait titles; and then we can based on the rules edit it. We have had multiple arguments with users where they said it isn’t included in the rules even if it should be normal to not use death or such as clickbait
So don’t worry too much, jokes, anons and the fun won’t be restricted - only the obviously inappropriate matters; we hope you all do understand this is so we as moderators can edit clearly inappropriate matters rightfully!

    6. Moderation reminder and warning; tagging admins and shading/bashing in artist threads

    Heey everyone

Yup, you're used to these now a days, but this is an official update from the moderation team directed at the forum
Today we will bring 2 things up:
    1. Shading and bashing going on in artist threads
    2. The non stop tagging of admins

It has been brought up to our attention, that users think it suddenly is okay and goes against no rules to shade moderation/staff members and name call users/bash them in artist threads
Now, artist threads are a part of the forum and of course all forum rules count there too - so no need to get all riled up and annoyed when you get punished for breaking the rules - because believe it or not, they still count everywhere on the forum ^^

    So, instead of taking the discussion with every single user, I will explain it here;
I refer to the forum rules, where it clearly states:
"No antagonizing staff" and "No bashing other users or artists"
I isn't up for discussion, you are bashing/shading moderation non stop beside calling and mentioning users by name to shade them; then you go ahead and argue with us for it being your "own free space and for the fandom only"
Well, the thread might be for the given fandom and artist, but nowhere does it say you're allowed to break forum rules, and you can't blame 'haters' for reporting you; don't break the rules in order to not be punished accordingly - it is that simple

So from today of, we won't go easier on it just because you post it in the artist threads - if you go after breaking the rules, take the punishment coming with it; so it is preferable if you just don't ^^
We will start thread banning if it continues - just a heads up ~

    Going on to the second point;
Please refrain from tagging the admins non stop - because it brings more with it than what it looks like
We know it is easy to just tag them and make a joke, but they do read and see it - and in the end, it is us that needs to talk with them and sort everything out
We get you sometimes joke around or tag them when something happens, but take it up with us or mention them without tagging
Joke around without tagging them - it is just as annoying for them as it is for us all to be spam tagged, beside that it of course can bring you and us in unwanted situations, and it does, because it has already happened more than once

So, take things up with the moderation team first and refrain from going all in on tagging the admins all the time - there is a reason the moderators delete or edit your threads/comments when it happens
We can't overrule an admins decision, we can try and talk to them, but we're guaranteed no change

You are free to discuss stuff with them and such - we can't stop you from that, but just don't go tagging them all the time, because it does bring problems alongside it ^^

That was it for this time, have a great day <3

    7. New rule as for restricted quoting/replying in the bashing thread; on trial!

Heeey and welcome to the moderation update regarding the bashing thread

So, we have listened to you all and have decided to adjust the rule we added some time ago
The thing is, we issued the rule of NO QUOTING at all in the bashing thread, even no referencing to other comments - since it brought many unnecessary conversations and mess after mess we needed to take care of

However, we try to compromise to make it for everyone, so we listened, talked and agreed to give it a chance; so it is a trial - if it goes bad we are entitled to enforce the rule of no quoting at all again!

    Instead of a no quoting rule at all, we will make it a restriction - now read it very carefully so we are on the same side;
You are allowed to quote/refer/reply to a comment in the bashing thread, IF you are

    1. Going to add to the bash
    2. Agree to the bash
You are NOT allowed to quote/refer/reply to a comment in the bashing thread, IF you are

    1. Going to disagree
    2. Attack the user
    3. Deny the bash/rumor/source

Now what is important; you don't get to start endless conversations in the bashing thread; keep it relevant

    - If you think a bash goes against forum rules, it is defamation or such you need to report it. If you quote or reply to a comment to deny/disagree you will be punished accordingly; thread ban, deletion of your comment and if needed due to attacking of the user further action

So for this trial, don't report comments that quotes, unless it goes against the given guidelines/the restriction ^^

Hope it works out and we get to compromise like this to make it better for everyone

    Love from
    - The Moderation Team ~

    8. Update regarding trial of quoting on BT - back to no quoting

    Heey
As you can see in the thread title as well as op of the BT, there is rule change about quoting and replying on BT. We have short trial about restricted quoting to see how it would go and if the rule would be kept. However during this time we received lot of feedback about restricted quoting, for example some users wanted no quoting rule back since it was seen to make the BT more on-topic. In other hand we understand users who wanted quoting and replying back to BT since it encourages discussion and gives more feeling of "forum".

However as you can see from the rule change we leaned back towards no quoting rule. This is because lot of users made good points on BT becoming in some ways better without quoting. We ourselves saw increase of trouble and reporting on the thread after restricted quoting was allowed when in other hand no quoting rule probably made BT most "chill" it has been. So to focus the thread back to topic rather than off-topic convos that can easily break other rules of BT, we decided to return to no quoting-rule.

Rule itself (on OP of BT):
"No quoting or replying - Do not quote or reply to posts of other users in this thread. Quoting and replying also includes posting ^ or @(user) to refer bash etc. Quotes and replies will be removed by moderation and if user breaks the rule multiple times they will be temporarily thread banned and/or they will receive verbal warning. On more severe cases of rule being constantly ignored by user there can be permanent ban from BT. "

So after this post all posts in this thread that quote or reply will be deleted. And if you want to give us feedback about this rule change or BT in general- or other stuff on forum, please do so and you can do it on Ask a Staff or Moderation feedback threads.

    9. New direction of AKP - Head Mod and more

So, since some information already have been shared, yet with a seemingly uninformed touch on the situation, I believe it’s right that I inform you guys on what the new agreement with the admins and staff team are. I wanted more time so that I could break it down to you guys, yet it has resulted into this hasty thread which does not even include half of the information I wanted to provide you guys with. But I don’t want to leave anyone blind-sided.

This announcement was meant to be shared later when everything had been settled and agreed upon, however it did not go as we wished and the information was spread unprepared and without my knowledge.

As you may now be aware of, there has been assigned a new role to the forums - a head mod. And that role was assigned to me. I need to specify that the suggestion of head-moderator was not suggested by me to the admins, however I will fulfill my duty to my best abilities. Therefor, I seek guidance and constructive criticism from you guys as well so that I know where my strength and flaws lie. I encourage you guys to use the official feedback thread or that you dm me!

    https://www.allkpop.com/forum/threads/moderation-feedback-suggestions-thread.172862/

I am well aware that users are reluctant, a bit skeptical and frightened about this new role. The details are unfortunately still in discussion with the admins and the reason I wanted to wait before throwing such huge news at you was simply because I do not have the entire manuals, and I hope you guys can be patient with me and the moderator team. I will keep you guys updated but here are some basic regulations a head-moderator needs to follow.
    • Be the contact point between staff members and forum members. You are of course more than welcome to reach out to any of the moderator or staff member, but for issues that forum staff can not be solve will be forwarded to the admins by me after consultation with the entire moderator team.
    • The purpose of head-mod’s role is not to overrule everyone else’s opinions. It’s on no ground that it was decided I would rule over anyone else. The admins made it very clear that there would be put regulation and rules for the entire staff to prevent abuse of power. That includes me as well.
    • This role will be more of guidance on those who need it and a peacemaker to their fullest ability. I am now fully aware that my effort to be as objective as ever is prominent. If I step over the line, please let the moderator team know so that we can work on finding a solution.

    To break it down - it was written nicely before;

“The admins made it very very clear that there would be certain rules that all the mods, including staff and head mod would have to follow so that breaching of rules and abuse of power would be prevented. The head mod is not free of it and the rules were still in discussion"

These are of course just some of the basics and I unfortunately cannot provide you guys more than this, like I said I too am waiting for answers, but please take into account that there are a lot of things that need to be worked on, so I kindly ask for your patience.

I have informed the current mod team, which is now built off @ShelterRegulus, @kyutiemir22 and @ezenk about how it will work, and we agreed on seeing it in process. This as new for me as it’s for you guys, and I am optimistic that we can make it work despite how new and frightening it might be to some.

I’m happy to answer further questions to my best ability!

    10. Official new rule regarding promotion of other forums on AKP!

    Hello everyone!

We have a new rule that we’re going to put into place after some discussions we’ve had and from what we’ve seen on the forums recently.

We are going to ask everyone to refrain from promoting other forums/websites here on AKP. From what we’ve seen, when this happens it ends up turning into a giant bashing session on here (akp), which we want to avoid from now on.

We understand some of you are frustrated with AKP or how the system works. We are trying our best to fix the issues and have good friendly discussions. However, comparing forums just leads to staff/user shading/bashing on here (akp) and we would like to avoid promotion of forums that bash and target AKP users

We have nothing against any of the websites you want to promote on AKP, but we had been having issues with users trying to promote these pages as a way to bash AKP. All we want is the forum to be a nice place for everyone.

Thank you, from the AKP Moderation Team~

    11. New rule regarding group bullying and ganging up on users on the forum

    Hello everybody!

It has recently come to our attention that there have been a lot of users who have started ganging up on others when they think that their opinion is wrong or when they simply don’t like the user.

This is a community for everyone to interact and discuss. We understand that with so many users and different personalities not everyone will get along. However if you disagree or simply do not like a user the best option is to ignore them. Bullying and antagonizing users will be strictly prohibited.

So we’d like to remind you all to just ignore the person or report their post if it violates any rules instead of just fighting with them. If we see people ganging up on others, we will start giving out actual punishments instead of just deleting all the posts.

Thank you, from the AKP Moderation Team~

    12. New 18+ section

Yesterday I had the poll thread up for you guys to choose where you wanted the 18+ section to be placed and a majority of you chose The Studio~

So here is the new section
    https://www.allkpop.com/forum/forums/18-section.57/

Obviously same rules apply as the rest of the forum. But some specifics, No bashing, No posts/threads including minors, no porn. Nothing posted there will show up in the recent posts/threads section so questionable title threads aren't shown. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to ask.

    Have fun!

    13. Bashing thread Revamp

Alongside searching for assistants to help out with the bashing thread we have decided to move it to a subsection of its own

Under that subsection there will be a place to report rule breaks of the bt and such or ask the assistants if you’re confused about something
It will be put up and you all will be informed once everything has settled with the assistants

The bashing thread will now be found under
Off topic - miscellaneous - the bashing thread
