Buzz
The extremely hot weather is leading to deaths in South Korea.

According to the Health Ministry, from May 20 to August 6, around 3,440 Koreans have received medical treatment for heat-related illnesses. Among them were 42 deaths; the highest heat-related fatalities ever recorded in South Korea.

The heat waves, that started crossing South Korea in mid-July, are the most severe heat waves in Korean history.

On August 1, South Korea recorded the nation's highest temperature in Korean recorded history by reaching 40.7 Celsius (105.2 Fahrenheit). The daytime highs have been remaining in 33-35 Celsius (91-95 Fahrenheit) for the past weeks in most areas.

According to the authorities, the elderly living alone, people without cooling systems, and outdoor workers are most vulnerable to the extreme heat waves.

The government is pushing to consider extremely hot weather as a natural disaster in order to help victims of the heat-related issues and illnesses.
