A Japanese school has gained attention for bringing their students to Korea.

Since 1975, Japan's Chiben Academy has been sending students every year to Korea's Gyeongju so their students can learn the proper history between Korea and Japan. The trips are taken every year because of the founding director's belief that Japan needs to take responsibility and apologize for their colonization of Korea, and also about Japanese culture's relationship with Korea's Shilla and Baekje.

Since 1975, Chiben Academy has sent 21,000 students to Korea. There were reportedly protests against going to Korea at times, but the academy has been able to send students every year because of the Koreans' warm welcome. This year, 43 students visited Korea, and the current director announced that the tradition will of course be continuing on in the years to come as well.

The mayor of Gyeongju said, "The relationship between Korea and Japan will grow brighter as the students of both countries communicate."
