On August 23, MBN exclusively reported the incident that took place in Suwon. In front of an elementary school, a man is captured grasping a child by his arm and forcefully dragging the child with him. Upon sighting the forceful act, a passerby in a taekwondo uniform attempts to push the man away. Another passerby also walks over to help and aids the child to the side.
The man, who was identified as 66-year-old Mr. Bae with a record of 9 previous convictions, was revealed to be attempting the kidnap. During the investigation, Mr. Bae claimed that he does not remember the incident and failed to provide a reason behind the crime.
Kang Min Sung, the passerby in a taekwondo uniform, shared in an interview, "I heard the child yelling, 'Save me! He's not my grandpa! He's trying to take me somewhere'... I naturally and automatically walked over to them. As a father myself, I knew I wouldn't just watch from the side if my kid was in that situation "
The parents of the child expressed appreciation and stated, "We're so thankful. If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't have been able to know if we could see our child again or not."
