According to the Busan Haeundae Office of Education, a teacher identified as A made 3rd graders watch the film 'My Teacher' in celebration of Teachers' Day in May.
'My Teacher' turned out to be a gruesome adult rated film that includes scenes of brutal torture and murder. After watching the film at school, many students had trouble sleeping and expressed concerns to their parents, saying, "The movie my teacher showed us was too scary!"
Parents filed complaints to the school and the teacher explained, "I didn't know it was a scary movie." However, parents believe the teacher is lying and claimed, "In the first class when the movie was played, the children expressed shock but the teacher continued showing the film to students in other classes."
Following the controversy, A took a break from teaching due to health issues. However, A is expected to return to teaching in the new semester in September.
Parents are outraged by the news of the teacher's return and are refusing to let their children in A's class.
The parents plan to hold a rally at the Office of Education on August 24.
