The weak punishment for two high schoolers who severely beat up a senior student is causing fury.

A senior student was given a broken nose and recommended 4 weeks of rest after getting severely beat by two junior students. The incident was then sent to the School Violence Prevention Committee for discussion and the junior student who directly engaged in the violent act was expelled while the junior student who agreed on the act was requested to transfer.

However, the two junior students responded with an appeal, claiming that their punishments are unnecessarily too harsh. As a result, adjustments were made. Now, the student who directly harmed student C is only given a 10-day suspension while the other junior student is penalized with 10 days of community service.

The family of student C, as well as netizens, are highly angered by the final decision. The parent of student C stated, "It's unbelievable. His nose has been deeply punctured inside. 10 days of suspension does not make any sense."

Netizens also commented, "Hahaha suspended for 10 days hahahaha The board of education basically rewarded the student for beating up another student. Does that kid (who beat up student C) have a lot of money?", "Crazy bastards", "What are they doing???", "Their parents need to go to jail."

You can check the shocking footage from the incident in the SBS news clip above.

From suspension/expulsion to 10-day community service/suspension? That's quite an adjustment. I wonder how much money their parents had to 'donate' in order to score that.

Any follow ups? Did they increase their punishments?

Given how ingrained the whole age/superior thing is in Korea... I find it a bit hard to believe that the senior student was attacked without any provocation. Unless, of course, the junior students were of a higher social standing and had had a history of unpunished bullying, but even with that, it's way more likely that they would target younger or same-age students, not older ones.

the bullies are probably liberals aka people known for solving problems with violence.

They basically made light of bullying—no wonder it continues.

Institutionalized bullying. Some things never change.

Are you serious?! THEY ONLY GOT 10 DAYS OF SUSPENSION? Bitch if THAT was my brother, best believe 2 kids would go missing the next day. Why were the other kids just watching that shit happen?! I'm also irritated at the people below. "What if he deserved it?" THEN THE LITTLE SHITS WHO BEAT THE KID UP WOULD'VE TOLD THE JUDGE THAT, BUT INSTEAD THEY ASKED FOR A LIGHTER SENTENCE. "He might have been talking shit" OKAY AND WHAT IF HE WASN'T???? Bullying is a HUGE problem in Korea, with people ACTIVELY speaking out and wanting to stop it. How about, instead of VICTIM SHAMING, we actually fight to put the assailants behind bars.

a) did you watch the video? you would have seen the "senior" ripping off his jacket and tie getting ready to smack some juniors down. b) did you even attempt to guess why they only got 10 days? perhaps they were the ones ACTUALLY being bullied by the senior once the investigations went through? (or at least something to that affect). c) 99/100 fights when it comes to boys is solely talking shit. It prolly started out at a yo-mama joke... and things just escalated. I'm also glad you'd make 2 kids go missing... cause retaliation isn't very different than an escalated form of bullying. LMAO

Bullying is a huge problem everywhere. Don't try to make it look like Korea has the biggest bully problem in the world. You have no idea how many people were bullied in my school in LA and that's just one school. While I do agree that 10 days of suspension is very weak, when I was in high school, a student came to school with a metal chain with 4 of his friends and beat the crap out of another student. The punishment? 2 week suspension. The kid who got hit had to get stitches on his head and everything.
