A theory about when and why President Park Geun Hye will resign is going viral on Korean online communities in the middle of the continued efforts to get President Park out of the office.

According to the theory, President Park will resign 3-4 days after December 21 -- because around December 21 is when Ban Ki-Moon, the UN Secretary-General, begins his Christmas vacation and will be able to return to Korea.

The reason why the Secretary-General is important in this scenario, according to the theory, is because as the Korean citizens demand President Park's resignation, Park will have no choice but to utilize Ban Ki Moon, who is known to be friendly towards President Park and her party.

The theory also says that Ban Ki Moon will present himself as the one who persuades Park to resign from her post, win over the citizens' trust and popularity run to become the next president -- since the country will have to elect a new president within 60 days of Park's resignation, according to the Constitution.

This theory is enraging some netizens. One wrote, "Ban Ki-Moon is the worst UN Secretary-General in the history of UN." Another responded, "Ban Ki-Moon ignored Sewol Ferry incident because his greed for power blinded him, even thought he was supposed to work for world peace and human rights."

Korean citizens continue to protest; last weekend, over 1.5 million people gathered. This weekend, a similar number of citizens are expected to gather and march closely to the Blue House, the presidential residence.

Maybe SK should just merge with NK. They clearly don't like anyone in the government. At least no one would get to hate anything this way, unless they wanted to die.

That fucking asshole should NEVER become president of South Korea.  He has been nothing but a mouthpiece and an embarassment to koreans as a whole.  South Korea needs a STRONG president right now and this guys IS NOT IT.Even the woman president right now is better than that bend over fucker.

Ban Ki Moon might not be the best UN Secretary General we've had so far, but he's a decent guy and seems to have a good heart. I had the fantastic opportunity to meet him over the course of 4 years when I was in Model UN. He would always giving opening and closing speeches, as well as personally meeting with students from the national and international schools that had attended the MUN conferences. Around 2013, he congratulated us for being the very last group to have a conference at the UN headquarters before they started renovations on the building. He's also seems to be very (and I mean VERY) down to Earth. Still remember how he joked about breaking his arm playing football with his son. In all honesty, I feel like what South Korea needs now is a president by the people, for the people....but that's just my wishful thinking.

Who came up with that theory? I guess the same kind of people who wanted Michelle Obama on the oval office. It sounds so unlikely to happen but that's true that Ban Ki Moon could be a breath of fresh air for South Korea.

Seohyun will be very happy if that happen, we knows how much she love Ban Ki-moon 😏😄

I sort of doubt it, because if I was a politician the very last thing I would want to do is seem friendly with the out going president who is going be forced into resigning. And the idea that being the friend that went to her and convinced her to leave giving you a political boost- bitch you her friend and her friends are the problem in the first place. I would be out there pretending girl was my natural born enemy.

Actually, because of assosiation, Ban Ki Moon is distancing himself from Park Geun Hye and Sanuri. His best bet is the start a new political party. If he Park does resign it is not a sure bet that Ban will elected especially if he sides with Saenuri. The people have lost faith in that party.

I *doubt* that PARK GEUN-HYE will resign as S.Korean President. And I am *not* clear that she has done anything that resembles TREASON level behavior of some sort. So, I am really NOT so clear that PGH could even be impeached. And finally, even if she is, a S.K COURT has to then decide (need 6 out of 9 votes) IF the IMPEACHMENT was for a *LEGALLY JUSTIFIED REASON* under the S.K Constitution. In other words, PARK GEUN-HYE could be IMPEACHED by their NATIONAL ASSEMBLY. And her removal could be approved by vote os teh NATIONAL ASSEMBLY. And then, the S.K. COURT could *reverse* that IMPEACHMENT *if* only 5 Judges or less do support the IMPEACHMENT as a *legal* one. The whole situation seems almost 'nightmare' like, to me. The estimate is that it would take around 6 MONTHS to actually 'grind through' the IMPEACHMENT process. So, that leaves say only 9 months before the NEXT General Election of a new S.Korean President. Maybe an agreement on a 'Deputy Monitor' (auditor/watcher) type person would be better. Someone who is at meetings, and makes sure that PARK GEUN-HYE is NOT up to 'giving away the store' anymore to *strange* personal friends like CHOI SOON SIL.
