South Korean Olympic gold medalist Jin Jong Oh, who boasts an incredible 3rd consecutive gold in men's 50 meter pistol shooting, opened up about meeting and conversing with athletes from North Korea in a recent press conference.

He began by sharing, "I joked with North Korea's Kim Sung Kuk, telling him, 'If you see me from now on, act like we're close.'" Kim Sung Kuk, who is 6 years younger than Jin Jong Oh, earned a bronze medal for North Korea in the same 50m pistol shooting category in Rio. Just after earning his bronze medal, Kim Sung Kuk told the media, "If the North and South were to become one, united nation, than both gold and bronze would belong to us."

Jin Jong Oh also shared an account of conversing with North Korea's Kim Jung Soo, also a pistol shooter, who came up to Jin Jong Oh and said, "Why did you do so badly in the 10 meter category?" after Jin Jong Oh recorded a poor score. The South Korean shooter then refuted with, "Hyung, you didn't do well either, did you?", and Kim Jung Soo replied, "But I'm old." To that, Jin Jong Oh laughed, and remarked back, "We're only two years apart, so what are you talking about age for?"

What are your thoughts on the prospect of a united Korea competing in the Olympics?

melaniiie Monday, August 15, 2016

I liked this article. But it makes me sad the two have to be two countries.

kapichino Sunday, August 14, 2016

y'all are expecting some top secret north korean information? haha i think this is precious even though the two countries are worst enemies at war they can still joke with each other like this as friends, I absolutely love the Olympics for this very reason.

hiroonakamura Sunday, August 14, 2016

SweetDisaster hiroonakamura Sunday, August 14, 2016

WHy? because it isn't Kpop? How can you find people from 2 countried that hate each other uniting and joking around worthless?

SpringxTempo Sunday, August 14, 2016

Seeing the NK and SK athletes interact is so precious <3 I just hope the NK athletes don't get slack when they return home.

Is it wrong that the first thing that came to my mind when I read pistol shooting was W/Kang Chul? haha, but in all seriousness, it's great to see the friendly attitude! Even though I think N.Kor is a truly awful place, it's the gov't's fault. The people there...well I'm sure a lot of them are really wonderful people. Maybe one day, we will be able to see the fall of the communist regime and the two koreas reunited ;p

BlueCatiline Saturday, August 13, 2016

If S.Korea + N.Korea = more kpop idols, then that is an equation I can get behind

mind_blown Saturday, August 13, 2016

I'm down for the reunification if it means the North Korean system/goverment will be destroyed and the 2 Koreas basically would become a bigger South Korea. The North Korean gov needs to go.

what a biassed comments from idiots here, why they do not become a KOREA instead. stop believing what Media said and learn Politics before talking yo asshole

nanuk  DJ_OKOV4 (Banned) Saturday, August 13, 2016

The type of 'government' running NK is no secret, and the atrocities that have been done are also no secret (although I'm sure there are many others which have been hidden). It is not idiotic to not want death camps and to be told complete lies with no way to source outside information. Sorry, but no. I'm sure there are some positives to living there (as there are positives with literally everything) but they by far do not outweigh the negatives. Learn politics? Politics and politicians, man, come on. You've paid attention right? Everything is run so justly! Pfft. Pay attention to the people - the citizens - instead, maybe. They're what should matter.

DJ_OKOV4 (Banned) nanuk Saturday, August 13, 2016

no secret? do you live in NK or something? hahahaha i found it funny when someone believe Media say about a country who hates America. stupid 12 yo

nanuk  DJ_OKOV4 (Banned) Saturday, August 13, 2016

So disbelieve the people who have escaped North Korea, then? What are you reading that makes you think North Korea is a good place? Please tell me. Anyway, if I did live in North Korea I wouldn't be posting here - because I wouldn't be able to. Doesn't that further my point rather than yours?

nanuk  DJ_OKOV4 (Banned) Saturday, August 13, 2016

Hell, the mere fact that people have to "escape" from a country when they've down nothing wrong speaks volumes.

nanuk mind_blown Saturday, August 13, 2016

done nothing wrong* damnit, edit button pls allkpop ahahahah. No problem though. I can't tell if this person is a troll but I'm really hoping.

DJ_OKOV4 (Banned) nanuk Sunday, August 14, 2016

see, if you want to be a good and smart person you should listen from both side, not from one side only. and you should learn Politics before talking because you sound so stupid and ignorant . you called it an "escape" but the reality he/she is just traitor for their country who want other country citizen, and fyi every country have this kind of person (even SK tho). stupid 12 yo still believing what media said hahahaha

DJ_OKOV4 (Banned) nanuk Sunday, August 14, 2016

you should try this, find poor person and make a deal with him/her for saying a good thing about you, it's kind of easy if you have a power. realy idiotics SK FANS

lye54 nanuk Sunday, August 14, 2016

You are absolutely right. Well said :)

nanuk  DJ_OKOV4 (Banned) Sunday, August 14, 2016

I should look at both sides? I asked you to source what you've read that makes you see "the other side". You didn't supply any information, instead attempting to belittle me. If I'm a 12 year old, how does it feel to be less intelligent than a 12 year old?

nanuk  DJ_OKOV4 (Banned) Sunday, August 14, 2016

And no, SK does not have "this kind of person". They don't have people who are considered traitors because they want to leave the country, unless doing so in avoidance of conscription or of the like. They don't have people who escape - they have people who leave. It's called freedom of choice. If you consider someone a traitor for wanting a better life, a better life for THEMSELVES, then you've obviously been born in a better, more humane place than them and can't begin to comprehend what it must be like, not even a little bit.

DJ_OKOV4 (Banned) nanuk Sunday, August 14, 2016

wow proud to be ignorant kid? "this kind of person" is not escape thing because that's your words not mine. i said a person who want another citizen by leaving their original country, because SK and NK in bad reltionship it's easy to put money in this deal dor making up story. hahaha SK have a lot dood for example there is a lot of non-Korean idol in Kpop. hahahaa stupid

nanuk  DJ_OKOV4 (Banned) Sunday, August 14, 2016

Again, please provide where you've been getting your information on North Korea. I showed a willingness to look at both sides but you really seem not to be able to provide any source. And honestly, regarding the "kid" thing, I was more playing on the fact that you think it's offensive. That's the only reason you've been directing it toward me in every single one one of your comments, as if it's not getting old - as if you even thought it was a good 'insult' in the beginning. Anyway, at least children have a reason to be ignorant.

DJ_OKOV4 (Banned) Saturday, August 13, 2016

wow this shitty athletes from SK have no dignity at all, you want to fight so badly man? sigh
