An elementary school student was found dead in the bathroom of a private academy.

YTN released a report on August 3 stating that the dead body of a 13-year-old male student was found in the bathroom at a private learning institute. YTN reported that the student was the victim of constant bullying from his fellow classmates.

The student's teacher was aware of the bullying but did not take any disciplinary measures aside from giving the classmates a warning.

Reps from the institute conjectured that the classmates "bullied the student because he had a tic disorder," and stated, "The teacher in charge have met with the student's parents multiple times."

The student had reportedly hanged himself using the strap of his bag in the bathroom after informing the teacher that he was going to take a bathroom break. The boy's dead body was discovered in the bathroom around 5 p.m. on August 2.

Meanwhile, the student's family members are suspecting foul play, claiming that because the boy was normally a bright kid and because they were planning on going on a trip to Jeju Island soon, there is no way he would have committed suicide.

Well, every time I hear bad news about Korea, I always think that my country also has this shitty things in it+ it doesn't have the good things Korea has, so still better than mine haha.

Korea doesn't know how to handle bullying at all. Bullying is seen as a "wright of passage" and that it builds character. Why aren't they just expelled???

This is so heartbreaking. Bullying really is a serious issue and should be given more attention. May he rest in peace...

"The student's teacher was aware of the bullying but did not take any disciplinary measures aside from giving the classmates a warning. "Whaaaaat?? A korean teacher not doing shit against bullying?? Imposible! Not in Korea! (SARCASM!!) "because the boy was normally a bright kid and because they were planning on going on a trip to Jeju Island soon, there is no way he would have committed suicide. "Korea really needs to learn about mental health!! 😭😭😭 Even if kids act happy and nice around you, you should always get inform in the school of what it is happening and have a good relationship with your kids so they trust you enough to talk about their problems! Mental health is important too, Korea!! Stop making it a taboo God damn it!!

just because he was normally bright and about to go on vacation, doesn't mean he wouldn't commit suicide. its obv he was hiding his wish to die?? why would u suspect the parents im so

Denial. Sadly the parents don't want to believe it happened the way it did.

I think it's really the problem with the education system. In a lot of countries, we get to learn about LGBT rights, bullying, women's rights etc. but I heard that Korea has the second highest suicide rate out of the whole world. You can't just warn the bullies and think that they will just stop. The child already lost his life at such a young age. Rest in peace and hope you're in a much better place.

I agree but I think Korea needs to learn about mental health they dont stress these issues, which is very sad, they dont really have outreach programs and other things to help with suicidal thoughts and deppression. which is a big reason why they are they are the most depressed and they have the highest suicide count in the world. their also one of the most stressed out countries, due to their culture they are forced to work hard kids going to school for 10 hours, kids and adults have to live up to such high expectations. I hope they take metal health more seriously. (btw lana is my queen)

People must be more sensitive to this topic... Bullying and harassment are more common than what people could imagine. It's really difficult for people, especially young people to talk about this... Bullies are really mean people and if we do not stop them earlier, they would continue to make other people's life a real mess!! Hope some parents could be more aware of this! RIP young kid.

I always hear people say that bullying is a part of growing up. But I honestly don't think so. Bullying takes such a negative toll on kids and will follow them through and stay with them when they're adults. Please think twice before you bully someone. RIP you're in a better place now.

It's so sad that the boy had to take his own life because of bullies. My 13 year old daughter is going through something similar. A girl from another school is telling her to go kill herself and even posts pictures of how to slit her wrists. These kids are seriously messed up. I have no time for bullies, they are losers and only do it because they are jealous of something the victim has

I have a son(8yrs old) who gets bullied by two classmates and its so hard to watch how little you can do as a parent, how you have to teach your child to protect himself, finding ways to stay away of these bullies and their parents don't even care.At one time, I cried because I was so angry as my son told me these 7/8yrs old kids threatened to throw him out of the window or how he tried ways to hide himself as that all began...u have to really push the responsible ppl because too often they see that as normal or not important enough till its too late...
