Hyundai is an international conglomerate on the forefront of cutting-edge technology, and a recently developed prototype of their luxury sedan Genesis, which boasts the capability to drive itself, proves just so. 

According to Yonhap, on March 7, the South Korean government issued a temporary 5 year license plate for the country's very first self-driving vehicle. This prototype version of the Genesis was given the okay by the transport ministry to roll on a total of six routes in South Korea.

The prototype serves as the launching of an effort to commercialize autonomous vehicles and develop completely driverless cars in the long term.

Among the high tech functions that the Genesis prototype features are sensors and apparatuses which will keep the car in the lane and at a safe distance from the car in front. Because the car is still in its prototype phase, at least two people are required to ride in the vehicle to take over the wheel in case something goes wrong.
