Students proudly beat the fiercely competitive odds of being accepted into Korea Military Academy

Buzz

The Korea Military Academy announced on Monday that they held the matriculation ceremony for the 76th class of its newly admitted cadets.

The ceremony took place at Hwarang Archery Field and was attended by around 1,000 people including instructors, family members, and of course, the cadets themselves.

A total of 287 cadets were officially accepted into the academy on this day, more specifically 256 males, 28 females, and even 3 cadets of non-Korean backgrounds. All 287 cadets had successfully completed their basic military training which began on January 25 and lasted for around four weeks. Now they are ready to become proud defenders of South Korea!

What's even more amazing about these cadets is that they beat the fiercely competitive 22:1 (4.5%) odds of being accepted into the academy, with the chances of male cadets being accepted at 19.1:1 (5.2%) and the chances of a female cadet being even slimmer at a low ratio of 49.5:1 (2.02%).

Further, among those accepted into the academy, 83 males and 9 females were able to be admitted above all other students based on recommendations from their high school principals and their superior aptitudes.

The three foreign cadets are said to be from Vietnam, Thailand, and Philippines. The first foreign cadet was a student from Turkey who was accepted back in 2002, and currently, there a total of 16 foreign cadets enrolled in the academy.

Congrats to all the hard-working cadets who were accepted into the Korea Military Academy!
