AKP STAFF
misc.
10. #10 Vromance
The "brother group" of MAMAMOO isn't quite as quirky and wild as the girls but they sure are talented like them! They deserve more attention and hopefully they'll get it with future releases.
9. #9 Nine Muses A
Nine Muses is one of the sexiest girl groups in K-pop and the brought even more sexy with the debut of their sub-unit. Although the group is losing members left and right, Kyungri, Hyemi, Sojin and Keumjo brought their A game with this release.
8. #8 AOA Cream
This sub-unit features AOA members Yuna, Hyejeong and Chanmi. Debuting with "I'm Jelly Baby" on February 11, the girls performed admirably with their fun and colorful track.
7. #7 I.B.I
What happened to some of the more popular members on 'Produce 101' that didn't make it to I.O.I? They got together and formed their own group! Each member in the group is vocally talented and they made an impressive debut with "Molae Molae."
6. #6 Cosmic Girls
Cosmic Girls aka WSJN made their debut back in February with their mini-album 'Would You Like?' After a quick listen, I said, "Yes, I would like... to hear more of these girls!" Their new song "Secret" is awesome as well and you should check them out if you haven't!
5. #5 KNK
YNB Entertainment's KNK or K-pop kNocK debuted on March 3 with "Knock." They knocked the socks off some K-pop fans and gathered a fanbase through SBS MTV's 'The Show.'
4. #4 Unnies
Fans have fallen in love with Tiffany, Ra Mi-ran, Kim Sook, Hong Jin-kyung, Min Hyo-rin, and Jessi through KBS2's 'Sister's Slam Dunk.' Combined with JYP's producing prowess, the debuted as "Unnies" and topped the charts. They have a lot of potential with more releases but unfortunately, Tiffany suffered a scandal and had to leave the show.
3. #3 I.O.I
The girls gained many fans as viewers watched Mnet's reality show 'Produce 101.' They've been pretty popular but things are still up-in-the-air on what exactly will happen to them when the clock strikes midnight on January 1, 2017.
2. #2 NCT Units
NCT U, NCT 127, and NCT Dream all made their debuts this year. More units are scheduled to debut in Japan and China in the near future. SM Entertainment has the boy group formula down to a science and fans are loving the various concepts brought on by these Neo Culture Technology units.
1. #1 Black Pink
After years and years of hearing about "YG's new girl group," Black Pink finally made their debut on August 8. Not even a month into their debut, they've taken the K-pop world by storm and topped the charts. No one has made a bigger debut impact in 2016 than these girls.
