Ahead of the boys’ first full length album, ‘XOXO (Kiss&Hug)‘, the group has been flooding their homepage with teaser photos. The boys have released pictures for the other 9 members already, so fans have been staying on their toes for the last 3.

The solo shots seem to continue with the school theme, but more of the outside of class activities, like football, snack time, and making weird faces (?). In any event, the boys are pulling out all their charisma and are ready to take on another promotion cycle. The boys also celebrate their first year with 2 trophies, smiling brightly all the while.

EXO is coming back! You better believe it because it’s really actually confirmed this time around with the release of teaser photos!

They’ll be presenting their fans, who have been waiting for ages, with their first full length album, ‘XOXO (Kiss&Hug)‘!

To tease you all, the boys of EXO-K and EXO-M have teamed up for teaser photos that look much like something you’d see in a school yearbook!

It’s said that the 12 members will promote together traveling back and forth between Korea and China to once again show off powerful stages that are sure you make you swoon all over again.

Starting on the 17th, individual teasers will be released one by one, so stay tuned for more to come!

The ‘2013 Dream Concert‘ released their incredible lineup to the public. The Dream Concert is usually the biggest and baddest concert in Korea and this year will be no different.

The 19th edition of the annual concert will be held on May 11 at the Seoul World Cup Arena and the lineup includes SHINee, B2ST, INFINITE, 2AM, U-KISS, ZE:A, Girls’ Generation, KARA, 4minute, T-ara, SECRET, SISTAR, EXO, B1A4, Rainbow, Huh Gak, Girl’s Day, SPEED, BTOB, EvoL, and VIXX.

Before the concert, there will be a red carpet and photowall event. The concert producers stated, “K-Pop has become Hallyu’s trademark product with ‘Dream Concert‘ at its forefront. It’s a new movement for Korea’s growth that contributes to industrial production and improvement of Korean brands. Next year, ‘Dream Concert’ will have its 20th anniversary. We’re preparing a step to create a new brand value. This will be an important and meaningful concert that announces that change.”

The annual ‘Dream Concert’ has been an iconic Hallyu concert, drawing in fans from not only Korea but Japan, South America, the Middle East, and more, contributing to further spread K-Pop awareness across the globe.

‘IVYclub‘ has released behind the scenes videos and interview clips with EXO-K and actress Kim Yoo Jung!

The boys are their playful selves in the BTS video as they endorse the school uniform, playing the guitar and then laughing when they can no longer remember how the song goes. They also tease Suho for having a couple photoshoot with Kim Yoo Jung, as well as making use of the foosball table.

Is EXO finally gearing up for a comeback?

It’s been almost a year since both EXO-K and EXO-M debuted with “MAMA“, and fans have been eagerly waiting for their comeback. There have been hints for a very long time, with tweets from various producers posting photos and sharing news they have worked with the boys along with various supposed wolf-like leaks of songs.

Finally, there seems to be some sort of confirmation from SM Entertainment themselves. The official SMTOWN websites of both EXO-K & EXO-M listed an ‘EXO Korea Showcase‘ under the boys’ career section under their profile tab. The showcase is scheduled to be held on March 31, which falls in line with various rumors that the boys would be returning in the end of March.

Super Junior have been the kings of physical album sales since 2010, but it’s hard to visualize that with just the numbers.

To help visualize the breakdown, a Korean netizen put together pie charts to see how each group did in sales. The pie charts were released in five categories with the first three charts breaking down the sales within the Big 3 companies: SM Entertainment, YG Entertainment, and JYP Entertainment. The last two charts broke down the overall percentage based on companies and individual artists.

SM Entertainment

The SM Entertainment chart showed that Super Junior had accounted for 34% of the entire company’s sales, which isn’t surprising since they had ranked at #1 for the entire year for the industry. TVXQ, SHINee, EXO-K, and Taetiseo followed. The most surprising was Girls’ Generation, who hadn’t released an album in 2012 but managed to sell 6% of the label’s sales anyway.

YG Entertainment

As expected, Big Bang dominated YG Entertainment sales in 2012, taking up 50% of the sales as a group. G-Dragon‘s solo sales put on an additional 26%, which was followed by Psy‘s 12%, and 2NE1‘s 4%.

JYP Entertainment

Even though 2PM didn’t release a studio album in 2012, they managed to dominate JYP Entertainment‘s sales anyway, with Wooyoung‘s solo album sales taking up 36% of the entire company sales. miss A had 19%, Wonder Girls had 17%, and another soloist Jo Kwon had 11%. 2PM also managed to sell 9% of the company sales with previous albums as well. Hopefully, with 2AM having already comeback and 2PM scheduled to comeback this year, we’ll see more of an impact from them this year!

Since Super Junior and TVXQ took up the #1 and #3 spots overall for album sales in 2012, it’s not surprising that SM Entertainment artists accounted for 28% of the total album sales for 2012. They were followed by YG Entertainment, who had 15% of the sales.

Surprisingly, #3 was INFINITE‘s Woollim Entertainment with 6%, followed by B2ST, 4minute, and G.NA‘s Cube Entertainment with 5%. FNC Entertainment, with CNBLUE, F.T. Island, AOA, and Juniel followed. Another surprising number came up next with B1A4‘s WM Entertainment with 3%. JYJ‘s C-JeS Entertainment came up next, and then JYP Entertainment and Core Contents Media wrapped up the rest of the companies at 3%.

The artists were then ranked, Super Junior and Big Bang took up the first two spots with 10% and 8% respectively. Various Artists was third with 7% which combined all the OST sales. TVXQ came in fourth with 7% as well, followed by INFINITE, SHINee, G-Dragon, B1A4, JYJ’s Junsu, and Busker Busker.

SM Entertainment and YG Entertainment revealed their Fiscal Year 2012 Earning Results.

The two companies released their total sales, revenue, and net profit for 2012. These results are tentative as an independent auditor needs to audit the earnings report for the stock holders, however, no big changes from the initial results are expected.

SM Entertainment, maintains their claim as the biggest label in the entertainment industry. They reported revenue of 168,560,155,987 KRW (approximately $154 million USD), which is a 53.5% increase from 2011. Deducting the wages of the workers and production costs from the revenue brings in 47,821,232,494 KRW (approximately $44 million USD), which is a 133.2% increase from 2011. The net profit (after calculating all expenses) has also increased 125.4% since 2011 to reach 37,177,156,185 KRW (approximately $34 million USD).

YG Entertainment had a total revenue of 99,724,863,668 KRW (approximately $91 million USD), a 59.4% increase from last year. Deducting the wages of workers and production costs brings in 18,544,672,845 KRW (approximately $17 million USD), a 20.3% increase from 2011. The net profit increased 45.4% from 2011 to reach 17,113,443,533 KRW (approximately $15.6 million USD).

JYP Entertainment has yet to release their results for 2012.

EXO-K have been spending their free time doing charity work for child welfare agencies, and now, fans are able to see them in action for the worthy cause.

All six members of EXO-K arrived at the child welfare facility, Eden Iville, in Hawangsimnidong, Seoul on the 22nd. They helped entertain the children and clean the place up during their third visit to the facility.

The members shared their love for children, sharing, “Although we’ve volunteered at various places, we are most happy when we get to meet children.”

Baekhyun, Suho, and D.O. took charge of cleaning the cafeteria, and D.O. showed his experience by stating, “We have to remove the dust first and clean it with water.” Meanwhile, Kai and Sehun took their steam vacuums to the play room, while Chanyeol was left to clean the bathroom. Chanyeol jokingly complained, “I always have to clean the bathroom.”

After cleaning up the children’s center, the members got some time to have fun sharing laughs and playing games with the kids. After entering the nursery, Baekhyun immediately put a little girl on his lap and said, “I saved this for her,” taking out some candy from his pocket to give to the cute toddler. Sehun also looked around for a girl he remembered, saying, “There was a child I really adored, but she moved to the States. Since she was adopted by good parents, it was for the best.”

Although EXO-K could have used their free time to rest up for their busy schedule, they impressed fans by putting volunteer work as a more important priority. Suho shared, “After eating, I should return and practice hard until 1-2 AM in the morning,” revealing just how busy the group really is.

EXO-K gave their farewell greeting to the children after the day was over, stating, “Let’s meet again.”

It has been revealed that EXO-K, who recently snatched up the rookie award at the ‘Golden Disk Awards‘, have been putting their time to worthy causes, doing charity work at a child welfare agency.

A child welfare agency representative revealed on the 17th, “Since last year, the EXO-K members have been voluntarily visiting and helping clean up, as well as playing with the children. We were surprised because they contacted us first, asking if they could come visit. They are enjoying it and doing well. They are brighter and healthier than a lot of people their age. Even though children recognize them and bother them, the members play well with them.”

SM Entertainment shared their thoughts, “Even before their debut, they conducted charity work. We are aware that they frequently visit children’s centers, nursing homes, and other various centers. After receiving love from fans, it gets easy to get used to only receiving things. In the spirit of ‘let’s become giving people’, we are recommending trainees to do charity work. In the case of EXO-K, when they were asked ‘how do you feel about continuing charity work even after your debut’, all of the members continued to do it. Every time they have free time between their schedules, they go volunteer.”

On January 15th, many of Korea’s top musicians and pop stars gathered at the Sepang International Circuit in Sepang, Selangor, Malaysia for the 27th Golden Disk Awards.

This year, the show was divided into two parts: the first part (held on January 15th) honors the winners of the physical album categories, while the second day (held on January 16th) will do the same for digital albums. KARA‘s Nicole, CNBLUE‘s Yonghwa (Day 1), FT ISLAND‘s Lee Hong Ki, and SISTAR‘s Dasom (Day 2) are the MCs for this year’s awards.

The first ‘Golden Disk Awards’ began in 1986, and since then, it’s become Korea’s most prestigious awards ceremony for music. Nicknamed the ‘Korean Grammy Awards,’ the ceremony is reputed for its fair standards, as the committee utilizes figures from album and digital music sales only.

This year’s show will be pre-recorded and the first day will air on January 19th through jTBC.
